If you will go to FamilyTreeMaker.com you will find the information that you are looking for. Go to the Surname List and it will pull up a large list of names and then you click on the last name that you are looking for. The information that is on the website also tells where the County and state where the person was born and such as that. I hope that this helps you in your search to find the person you are looking for. Sincerely, mdfarrar1

Your Hugh was named after his Uncle, my Hugh, if I am not mistaken... but I am going off of memory at the moment. I am trying to find out more information regarding my Hugh who was born abt 1804. He had three wifes, but I do not know where he died or was buried...sigh!

Bess

Hi Ron,

I am searching for info on Hugh Davlin (born abt 1804 in SC) and probable Uncle to the Hugh Davlin, son of John Davlin, who married Martha Pittman. What I have not been able to figure out is where "my" Hugh Davlin died and when he died. F.Y.I. He is NOT the same person Hugh Darlin as some like to think....

Best Regards,
Bess
(In NC)

Shari,

I have Hugh DAVLIN b. 1841 in Arkansas son of Becca Davlin in my PITTMAN line. I haven’t research his father or rest of the family yet. I haven’t seen activate on the DAVLIN Message Board or seen many DAVLIN in a search return. Hugh married Martha C. PITTMAN in 1863 in Red River County, Texas. On the 1880 Hugh b. 1845, Martha C. b. 1846, Ann PITTMAN b. 1804 (Mother-in-law), Matilda PITTMAN b. 1840 (sister), Willis Pittman b. 1862 (brother), Isham SCOGGS b. 1862 as nephew. On the 1900 Census there is another Martha DAVLIE living as a niece. 1910 Census list her and her son as lodgers and as PITTMAN. This is how Hugh ties in with my PITMAN /PITTMAN line. 1860 Census have them in Bowie County, Texas with more DAVLIN and SCOGGS (I believe the correct spelling is SCAGGS) living as neighbors. I believe younger Martha Callie is a PITTMAN and not a DAVLIN and where does the SCOGGS come in? Do you have any info on these DAVLIN’S?

Ron Weeks
A Texan in Missouri

Researching:

ALEXANDER ~ BARNFIELD ~ BEBEE ~ BRADFORD ~ CRIM / CRIMM ~ COFER ~ CROBER ~ DARLIN / DAVLIN ~ DEAS / DEES ~ DIXON ~ ESARY / ESSARY ~ HARP ~ HATTON ~ HURST / HURSH ~ JONES ~ PEAVY ~ PENNINGTON ~ PITTMAN / PITMAN ~ O'STRANDER ~ RAYMOND / RAYMER ~ SMITH ~ TAYLOR ~ THARP / THORP ~ WEEKS ~ WILLIAMS ~ + COUNTY'S IN TEXAS ~ BELL ~ CHEROKEE ~ DAWSON ~ HARDIN ~ HOPKINS ~ HUNT ~ JASPER ~ KAUFMAN ~ LAMAR ~ ORANGE ~ PANOLA ~ RAINS ~ SMITH ~ UPSHUR ~ VAN ZANDT ~ WOOD ~ + STATES ~ ALABAMA ~ ARKANSAS ~ GEORIGA ~ LOUISIANA ~ MISSISSIPPI ~ NEW JERSEY ~ NEW YORK ~ TENNESSEE ~ TEXAS

Stacy: Your message is old, and you may have located this information by now, but my records show that Mary Adeline Yates was born November 30, 1879 in Tennessee, and was the daughter of Berkett Yates (mother unknown), who was also born in Tennessee. Mary Adeline died November 29, 1954 in Childress. She and FPI Davlin, Jr. were married August 11, 1890 in Delta County, Texas. I have a copy of her death certificate, if you are interested. She is my g-grandmother also; I am a grandaughter of Jack Davlin.

I remember your mother and grandmother, but don't know anything about your grandmother other than her maiden name.

This is to update my 2005 message. My brain exploded and when I put the pieces back together I put the wrong Christian name in, It should have read as: I have found Martha Callie “DAVLIN?” “PITMAN?” on the 1900 Census Schedule in Ellis County, Texas under the household of Hugh DAVLIN and Martha Callie PITTMAN DAVLIN as niece and the 1910 Census Schedule Martha Callie PITMAN and son Douglas PITMAN in Scurry, Kaufman County, Texas under the household of Hugh DAVLIN and Martha Callie PITTMAN DAVLIN as boarders. Hugh was b. 1845 in Arkansas married Martha PITTMAN in Red River County, Texas in 1863.

Thanks,

Ron Weeks

A Texan in Missouri
Hello List,

I have a Hugh DAVLIN in1860 Bowie County, Texas with Becca DAVLIN b. 1809 mom, V E DAVLIN b. 1823 daug., A J DAVLIN b. 1834 son, Malinda DAVLIN b. 1839 daug., Hugh DAVLIN b. 1841 son, W A DAVLIN b. 1855 son, George T DAVLIN b. 1857 son. Ellis County Texas 1880-1900 and Kaufman County 1910. He married Martha PITTMAN in Red River County, Texas 1863. I researching the PITTMAN line and haven’t found the father at this time, he has him listed being born in Ireland 1900 census, and Iowa 1910. Below is a message I just posted and will post it later on these Boards DARLIN, SCOGGS, SCAGGS, PITTMAN, and PITMAN

Hugh DAVLIN b. 1845 - 1848 in Arkansas and on some census he was transcribe born in Texas is on the 1880 census in Precinct 2, Ellis County, Texas as Hugh DARLIN and wife Martha DAVLIN as Martha DARLIN b. 1846 Louisiana. Also these people are listed in the same household on the 1880 census Precinct 2, Ellis County, Texas are mother Ann PITTMAN of Martha PITTMAN and “Mother-in-law” to Hugh DAVLIN b. 1804 North Carolina. I believe Matilda PITTMAN, b. 1840 in Louisiana is the sister of Martha or Hugh and married a PITTMAN I’m not sure at time, this will correct my first posting, and Willis PITTMAN as “brother” b. 1858 in Texas. (Reed) Davlin, he had three son Calvin Floyd Davlin, Roy E Davlin Of Ohio. and Henry Davlin of Witcha Falls Tx. A daughter named Juanita C (Davlin) Witts. Henry had moved to Az and thats where he had died. I'm not for sure what year he moved there. Olen's mothers name is Victoria Davlin, dont know his fathers name. He has a brother name Floyd Davlin and a sister named Mrs Opal (Davlin) Rogers all from Wichita Falls Tx.
I am not for sure when and where Olen and Helen had gotten married. Helen is from Indiana.
My Devlin/Davlin family came from County Tyrone,Ireland in the early 1830's. Hugh and Rose came over with their children James, Catherine(died at sea),John. While in NY they had Margaret and Charles. They then moved on to Cuba Lake Twp, Lake Co, IL, and had my gg grandfather Hugh. Hugh and Rose died in the 1840's. On the 1850 census all 5 children were found in Lake Co, IL. Charles' family stayed in Illinois, James moved out to Douglas Co, Oregon. Hugh moved and settled in Spalding, Greeley Co, NE. Margaret lived a life as a spinster with her brother in IL. John-we believe- stayed in IL. Unsure were. Poss Chicago area. I'm trying to find descendants of Charles' and John's families. Davlin family reunion to be held June 23-25 in Donnelly, Idaho 2000. Can anyone help me out? Thankyou for your time. Carolyn Olson

Charles E Davlin and Lillie Hoskins

Still looking for information on Charles E Davlin and Lillie Hoskins
Any info or contact appreciated. Willing to share info.

Charles was born in 1885 in Texas. Lillie was born 1891 Texas or Oklahoma

I find them on the 1910 Hunt County Texas Census and the 1920 Atoka County Oklahoma Census. I am unable to locate them on the 1930 census. Family story is they were living in Altus Oklahoma Jackson County in 1930

I find two sons; Howard Hoskins and Haskell Charles Hoskins on these census. Family story is Lillie Hoskins/Robinson died in child birth.

Recently learned Charles and Lillie had a daughter Anna Jo. Family story is she weighed 1 1/2 pounds when born. Wore a ladies handkerchief and slept in a shoe box. Probably born in Altus Oklahoma. She was in the San Francisco California area about 1953.
