Addison, N.Y. — Donald R. Davy Sr., 68, of Cty. Rte. 5, Addison, entered into rest on Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira.
Don was born in Canton, Pa. on August 23, 1942, the son of Thomas and Ruth Ingerick Davy. On September 24, 1972, Don and Nona C. Hollenback Johns were married in Whitneyville, Pa.
He began a long employment with Corning Inc. at the Wellsboro, Pa. plant. He later transferred to Corning area facilities of Corning’s in 1972 where he was a Class A Electrician. He retired from the Sullivan Park Research Facility after 32 years of active service.
Don had a long association with the Tuscarora-Addison Wrestling Club. He organized a Boy Scout Troop in Tuscarora and served as Scoutmaster during the life of the troop. A former member of the Tuscarora Fire Dept. and the Tuscarora Ambulance Corp, Don also enjoyed participating in garden tractor pulls. At one time, he operated a small engine repair business at his home.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Merle Davy and Carl Davy.
Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Nona Davy of Addison, His sons, Donald Davy Jr. of Lindley and Thomas (Donna) Davy of Hixson, TN, his daughter, Michele Koss of Chesterfield, VA, his step daughters, Carol (Harold) Whittaker of Addison and Deborah (Rodney) Ellis of Painted Post, his step sons, James (Cathy) Johns Jr. of Clifton Springs and David (Virginia) Johns of Newark. His sister, June Updyke of Watkins Glen survives as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A Life Celebration in memory of Don will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
