This is a message I posted earlier in March 2007. I seem to have lost contact with Kenneth Hugh Burton, a descendant of Hugh and Mary (Rankins) Dawkins. I need clarification on a few points:

Hello:

I guess I am also a "new" cousin. My family is supposed to be related to Darryl Dawkins, too. That's what I've always heard, and he has eyes like my mother. Here's my lineage:

Mother: Thelma Ideamease (Dawkins) McDowell b.1929 LA
G-Father: Emmitt Dawkins (1909 to 1974 LA)
GGFather: Hester Emmitt Dawks (abt 1879 AL to 1953 LA)
GGGFather: Mose Dawkins (abt 1848 AL to ?). Mose had a brother named Frank born about 1859 AL. All the Dawkins in my family I have researched have first been born in GA, then about late 1840's in AL and some (my line) in LA. Does any of this sound familiar? The DAWKINS in LA also include Mary (Dawkins) James, daughter and last surving child of Hester Emmitt Dawkins and Loudonia (Perkins) Dawkins.

I would like to connect my GGGF Mose Dawkins to a Mose Dawkins b.1820 GA as father and son, but have no proof as yet. Hope to hear from either of you soon.
