I would like to get in touch with any descendants of this family of Dea's from Fairfield Co., SC. I am a descendant of William Christopher Dea and Mary J. McGraw. I'd like to know if he was the son and brother, respectively, of the ladies listed below. My family stories say that he was an only child, born in Ireland, his father died when William was two, his mother remarried and came to America with her son and new husband. I haven't been able to find any evidence to support this story (emigration records, etc.). On the contrary, census records say that he was born in South Carolina, varying dates from 1820 to 1826. I think possibly the story has gotten confused because his father was also named William. I'd appreciate any help on this matter.


I got these reference numbers from the book, " Fairfield County Marriages 1775 - 1879 Implied in Fairfield County, S.C. Probate Records" by Barbara R. Langdon. They relate to the Dea/McGraw family from Fairfield Co., SC. If anyone knows where I can get a copy of the will/probate records, I appreciate hearing from you. The copies in the Salt Lake City library are temporarily misplaced.
