Trying to trace the roots of my Deans who came from the Bushmills Portballintrae area. My GGrandfather John Dean moved to Belfast either as a child with his parents or as a teenager looking for work as a bricklayer. I beleive he had a brother called Charlie who also lived in the Shankill Road area of Belfast. John married Rachel Robinson of Cambria Street Belfast circa 1900, over the years they lived in Northland St, Broom St and finally Connaught St where he passed in 1939. Their Children were, Jack, Albert, David,Charles, Agnes(my grandmother) Nancy(Nan Shields), Jinnie(Taggart) and Rachel(Kane).
I think his Grandfather was a brother of Samuel Deane of Bushmills who was married to Matilda Chestnut. I feel that some names have not been registered as in the case of Annie Dean (Versace) who was a sister of Martha Dean (McAlister) daughters of Samuel Dean and Matilda.
Any help appreciated.

looking for info on this complicated lot. I believe Hugh Deans was born in Ireland circa 1817. He married Elizabeth Holt born at Halfmorton circa 1827 (census), her parents were Thomas Holt and Mary Bell or Broach, Hugh and Elizabeth had a daughter Margaret (death cert Deans), and son Thomas, registered as "Denny"
Hugh and Elizabeth's definate death cert call them Denny.
Margarets definate death cert is Deans,
The certs make it all confusing and I can't find Margaret Hugh or Elizabeth's birth certs. Also cant find info on Elizabeths parents, any help would be appreciated.

I would like to connect with any Deans that have a Charles Woodbury Deans in their line. He married a Priscilla Lyons Williams and their children were Mary Starr, John Sterling, Charles Hebert and Jean. I believe they all lived in Chester, Delaware County. Their daughter Mary Starr Deans married a Robert Barclay Calley. One of Robert and Mary's children was Priscilla Calley who was my great grandmother. I have a little bit of information on both sides that I'll be more than happy to share.

Does anyone have more info on Peterson and William Deans?
Patterson was on the 1830 Census for Bertie Co. I know he married Martha Wilkes (daughter of John and Elizabeth).
William married her cousin Elizabeth Wilkes (daughter of Micajah Wilkes). Both brothers moved away right after 1830.

Does anyone know anything about their parents? or more siblings? The two were born sometime betwen 1795 - 1805.

Peterson's last name was spelled Deans on the census, but Deanes on the marriage bond. When in Alabama, it was changed to Dean. Had a son , David, born abt. 1830 in NC.

Th other children, Theophelus, James, Sarah A., and Martha Jane were born in Al.

If any of this rings a bell, or if you've seen their names on more than what's listed (I was also informed about a Power of Attorney that William sent about his wife's inheritance), please
let me know. I'm looking for parents or if they sailed over !

Thanks, terri

Noggle 1891 in Tustin, MI. 1881 Ontario Canadian census lists him under Head of Household Agnes Deans, widow, with siblings George 20, Harris 15, Agnes 10 (Joseph was 13). "S" apparently dropped from name after 1881, as all information I have dates from marriage and 1908 move to Castle Rock WA lists him as Joseph A. DEAN. Appreciate any help.
Sid Dean SidDean@hotmail.com

James Deans married Elizabeth Chillas in Aberdeen on 11 May 1844.

Elizabeth Chillas was born 1811 at Kinnellar, the daughter of
Alexander Chillas and Sophia Stewart. Elizabeth died 7 January 1881
at 113 Constitution Street, Aberdeen, widow of James Deans.

I have been unable to find the couple on a census before 1881 and
have not found a death for James Deans.

Is anyone reseraching this family or has anyone come across them
during their research?
Death date uncertain, but buried at Corn Creek, Wise's Landing, Ky. Married Sisley Barnes (b. 5/1/75 in Trimble Co., Ky. Died 7/4/1950 in Madison, Ind.) Among their children were Laura Ethel Dean, my mother, born 1/24/1892. I believe he was a farmer and a cobbler. Other children were Oliver(birthdate unknown)and Esther (born 6/16/1895) died about 1995 in Louisville, Ky. Lived with daughter Sonny and Ileta Ortiz.

William Murray Deans

Son of William Deans and Rachel Gray. He lists his birthplace as Ipswich Australia and his usual as Aarat Aust. I can find no trace of him here in Australia until his marriage cert. in 1881. He was 23 years old.
The IGI lists a William Deans who married Rachel Gray in Ayreshire, they have a son William. The date is close. The IGI also lists some children for this couple.

I can only assume that as I can find nothing on these couple, or any siblings, that they in fact never migrated to Australia, only William Murray Deans migrated.

William Murray Deans went to Sth. Africa in 1890 or thereabouts when his wife died.

Interested in any information on the Deans family either in Ayreshire or in Sth. Africa. He took his son William Robert with him to Sth. Africa, Willia Robert had two daughters, named Dallas and Zoe.

I have been trying to trace these ancestors for a year or more, and have visited Ipswich recently, with no luck.
Searching for information regarding family of
Robert McCullough (et al various spellings) and
wife Hannah Deans. Robert McCullough born June 9,
1853 Northern Ireland (probably vicinity of Belfast)
married Hannah Deans, born January 18, 1856, Antrim
County, Northern Ireland. Married in or near
Edinburgh, Scotland and emigrated to USA settling
first in Sangamon County, Illinois.

Robert McCullough died July 7/8, 1910 and
Hannah (Deans) McCullough died December 8, 1942.
A search (actually 3 different searches) of the
vital records yielded no death certificates issued
in Illinois. They may have resided in another state
where they died. They are buried in Sangamon
County, Illinois.

Does anyone have any information on the whereabouts
of this family during the years preceding their
deaths? Any children?

Thanks,
Tom Cuthbert

I am looking for information on my mother's father, Herbert Ambrose Deans, b. 21 Jan 1884, married to Marie Emma Cook. My mother grew up in Dallas, TX, don't know if that is where Herbert (Harry?) was originally from. Records are a bit confusing, as my mom is certain her father's name was Herbert Ambrose, but Social Security death record indicates his name as Harry Deans. I am very new to genealogical research. Is this name difference a common thing to find?
