Dermonts Burying Ground, Fauquier

Still looking, but here's what I have so far:

James Dearmont did take over Thomas Lloyd's lease, lot #17, in 1778, and died there in 1786.

However, George Washington's papers also show James Dearmont paying rent in 1775 that was owed Dec 25 1773, so James was living on a different leased lot at the time Thomas Lloyd was on lot 17. (Lloyd's lease began 1769, but he may have been there before that.)

The Dermont/Dearmont family, I believe, moved to the Lost Mountain area, around 1755 or shortly after that, and like others, may have been living there when Washington bought the property in 1768. At the time of the move, Michael Dermont (born abt 1734) would have been the family elder, and we think James and Derrmont were his younger brothers.

I realize this doesn't answer your question about the Lloyd family, but does possibly have something to do with where the Wrights are buried.

More later, if and when we find it.

Best Regards,

Morrie

Eden, we are still searching for more information on the James Dermont part of our history. I've spent a lot of time looking for more on the Lloyd family and some others, but still nothing helpful, in an effort to find out who James' wife Sarah was.

I'm copying your post to our file, and will let you know when I find anything that might be helpful to you... it does happen sometimes... for instance, until now I had not heard of "Dermont's burial ground"... I owe you!

Thanks

Re: New Dearmont Web Pages

I am descended from William Wright (1740-1805) and Elizabeth Lloyd Wright who were living in Fauquier Co. Our family history states that they are buried in "Dermonts burying ground". From your website, I am wondering if my Elizabeth Lloyd is related to the Thomas and Ann Lloyd who assigned their lease to James Dermont. William Wright and Elizabeth Lloyd Wright were living on property purchased from Hezekiah Turner in 1780. On your website, I see that Hezekiah Turner was not far from the Thomas Lloyd land upon which James Dermont was living until his death in 1786. I assume James Dermont was buried on that land. In 1794, William Wright and Elizabeth Lloyd sold their land and moved to a leased lot. At the time of his death, William Wright was living still on a leased lot. I believe he moved in 1794 onto the same property upon which James Dermont had died 8 years before. Thus, William Wright would have referred to James' burial ground on the property as "Dermont's burying/burial ground". The name for this part of the property was passed down to William Wright's descendants. The name "Dermont" was a riddle to me until I found your website. If you find any information about Thomas and Ann Wright, please let me know. I'd like to figure out their relationship to Elizabeth Lloyd.

Margaret DeYarman of Fayette County, Pennsylvania lived her life out in Holt County, Nebraska. I have her obituary and information on her family. Some of her brothers were in Holt County for awhile, then moved on to Washington. Some of their obituaries were posted in the Holt County paper when they died. They left behind two children and a step mother.
Would be glad to help out anyone I can.
The DeYarman's (DeYarmon) were quite the horse people.
HI I am Margaret Stephens,
I feel people have not put there messages on this board is because the family changed their name so many times, even in a generation, that there is not a true spelling in the family. <S>
I have in my tree.. Dearmont, Deyarman, DeArmit, Dearmoun, DeArmitt, DeArmoun and other spellings. I would like to share with you what I have.
If you are interested in sharing information I would like to hear from you.
