Am researching the Stewart family and am interested in connecting with anyone who may know of or be descended from James & Agnes Deas Stewart, They were married April 1, 1919. I believe they had a daughter Margaret. My father and his brothers also visited this family during the war - sometime around 1942-43.

I am looking for information about "Sampson Deas" born abt 1799, was he in relation to Seaman Deas?? Sampson was listed as a "shingle maker (1860 census) in Lancaster County, he had a wife named "Jinny"

I would love to see the picture.I have a picture of Adele Auze, but it is in such bad condition you can't make out her face,so I didn't post it. The passenger list also caused me some headaces, as it was incorrectly transcribed as St Johns, Newfoundland. When I looked at the actual image it clearly said St Johns. P.R. I submitted a correction to Ancestry to prevent headaches for other researchers. I still don't know why they were in Puerto Rico for a while, maybe a business venture of some type. Charles Auze was a successful merchant in Mobile. My email is hpjh777@gmail.com

Thanks so much for the infomation. I've updated my Family Record Sheets; had some of the info just didn't have the "blanks" filled in. I have a photo of Col. John C. Deas if you would like to share. It was in my mother's cedar chest & left to my brother. Thanks also for posting the passenger list & obit. My genealogy spark has been rekindled!

The Auze's were from France..they were Bonapartists who were part of the Vine & Olive Colony near Demopolis, Alabama.
Charles Auze b 1790 in France
married Anne Agnes Martin b 1794 in France
They had the following children:
1)Charles b 1814 d 1856 married Margaret Deas b 1815
d 1899(Margaret died in the Windsor Hotel Fire in New
York City)
Charles & Margaret had two children:
i) Adele Auze b 1842 d 1868
ii)Charles Auze b 1844 d 1853
All are buried at Magnolia Cemetery in Mobile
2)Clara b 1812
3)Theodore b 1816
4)Alfred b 1820
5)Adele b 1823 in San Juan Puerto Rico.
Adele married John Chesnut Deas b 1815-1899
Adele & John were the parents of:
1a) Mary b 1846
2a)James Sutherland b 1849
3a)Frances b 1853
4a)Adele b 1855
5a)Alice Nott b 1858 (my great grandmother)

My head almost exploded trying to figure out who was who on the two Charles Auze's & two Adele Auze's

I am a 4th G-Ganddaughter of John C. Deas & Adele Auze. My contact was Adele Miller of Mobile AL. She passed away about 3 years ago. I am just now getting back into genealogy and know very little about the Auze family. Would you share some of your info with me?

Hello and thank you for the information! I have been searching for some time for informaiton on Serena's daughter Helen Murphy. She built the house in Asheville NC that my husband and I currently own. In fact I grew up here. I know she passed away in either 1918 or early 1919 and I have a copy of the deed where her brother Deas Murphy sold the property in 1919 to CW Brown. We know she built the home in 1914 and had lived is Asheviile for sometime before that. There is a Lee Murphy listed in Asheville around the same time but I have been unable to determine if it Helen's brother or not.
If you have any additional information on Helen or any photos you would be willing to share I would be grateful.

Just really started checking on the Dees. I have found that Moses was the father of Elizabeth Dees and there was a brother Robert Lee. I believe Robert Lee is buried in Acree, GA and most likely so is Moses. They are on the 1880 census for Dougherty County georgia.
Elizabeth was the 2nd wife of my Great Great Grandpa Allen Ratliff.
This maybe the same family you are looking for.
