I have been researching my ggf Minor Jackson Deason b. 1829 in SC since 1958. He was in Marion, Lauderdale County, MS with his brother C.B.C. Deason and his wife Jane, baby Minor in 1850. He married a Sarah Shamburger there. He was in Angelina County, Tx in 1861 where he married Nancy Dollarhide. He joined the Confederacy in Tyler, TX for a few months. He was released after a few months to return home for family matters and I believe that Nancy and a child Asa died at this time. He married last Mary Virginia Knox b. 1849 in Lauderdale Co., MS. They were in Trinity County, Texas in 1870 and in 1880 in Polk County, Tx where my grandfather Earnest Linwood Deason was born. His siblings include: Amos Beri, William Oscar, Edward Adelbert, Minor Dewitt, Mattie (married Henry Smith), Cora (who married Collier).

Does any of this sound familiar? I believe his father must have been born late 1700's or early 1800's. In 1850 census the next residence is occupied by a Rebecca Deason who must be a relative. Also, the Hough family is involved in some way.
