Thank you for your reply.
I suspect that this is the same extended family. Re. Simon Van Ness who was born l666 at Greenbush, New York. Greenbush is now called East Greenbush and is located near Albany, New York and not far from Schenectady. This Simon was commissioned an Ensign in the Albany County Militia. He was one of the men who pursued the French and Indians after the terrible attack on Schenectady--a blood bath. Simon married Rachel Van Deusen. He and Rachel moved to New York City and transferred from the New York Dutch Reformed Church to Acquackanonk Dutch Reformed Church in New Jersey -to Passaic, New Jersey. Rachael died in NJ and he returned to NYC and married Hester Delamater. After the marriage he and Hester returned to New Jersey and l70l Simon Van Ness was one of the purchasers of Indian land at Fairfield..he was of course, a farmer. He died around l733. This info. from the Holland Society. I'm wondering if your Jannetje was not a grandchild or a niece of mine. I would very much love to know what happened to mine..where she ended up at the time of her death.
I'm working on a 4th novel that surrounds this family and of course, want to keep to the facts.
I will be researching further in Albany this Fall at the Albany archives.
