Alice Henriette Ahlemeyer
Alice Henriette Ahlemeyer, the daughter of Edgar H. DeBrot and Kittle H. Putney DeBrot, was born at Torrington, Wyoming November 4, 1911. She was united in marriage to Edward H. Ahlemeyer on May 16, 1943 at Tacoma, Washington.
They moved to Benkelman in 1948 and were in business until 1970. Her husband passed away five years later in 1975.
Alice served her community gererously in many ways. She will be remembered as a swimming teacher and a helper in Vacation Church school at her church.
Her illness came to the fore shortly after the death of her husband. During that time she bore her cross with typical grace. She entered the Benkelman hospital for treatment and therapy and was always pleased with the ministrations of her friends and the visits of her pastor. Eventually she entered St. Luke's Hospital in Denver and passed away quietly on Wednesday May 4, (1977) at the age of 65 years and six months.
She was preceeded in death by her father, her husband, sisters: Ida, Norma, and Helen.
She is survived by her mother, Kittle DeBrot, Torrington, Wyoming; one stepdaughter, Doris Lutz, Paso Robles, California; four sisters: Hazel, Mrs. Tom Taylor, Fort Morgan, Colorado; Ann, Mrs. Edwin Baker, Gering, Nebraska; Caroline, Mrs. Darrel Gibbs, Boulder, Colorado; Edna, Mrs. Wayne Riggs, Torrington, Wyoming. Two brothers; Charles DeBrot, Phoenix, Arizona and Edgar and his wife Darlene DeBrot, of Torrington, Wyoming. Also two grandsons: Greg and Curt Altig, and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 7, 1977 at 10:30 a.m. from Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Otto Zeilinger officiating. Interment was at Ash Hollow Cemetery, Lowell, Nebraska with Jones Funeral Home in charge.

Interment will follow in the Ash Hollow Cemetery at Lewellen at 2:00 p.m. Memorials will be given to the Lutheran Church. The Jones Funeral of Benkelman was in charge of arrangements.

Charles "Chuck" W. Gibbs II of Lafayette died of heart failure Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, in Boulder. He was 50.
He was born Dec. 1, 1953, in Boulder to Darrel E. Gibbs and Caroline Debrot Gibbs. He married Janet Merkle in December 1984 in Boulder. They divorced.
Mr. Gibbs and his father owned Colorado Peat Industries in Boulder. For the past 10 years, he owned and operated Gibbs Trucking.
He graduated from Fairview High School.
Mr. Gibbs enjoyed music, motorcycles and his Kenworth tandem dump truck. He was a member of the Front Range Gold Motorcycle Club.
"Everyone who met Chuck loved him and was impressed by his courage, humor, kindness and strength even during his illness," his family said.
Survivors include a son, Mark Gibbs of Westminster, and a sister, Shirley Angel of Longmont.
Funeral serviceswill be at 11 a.m. Monday at Boulder Howe Mortuary, 2121 11th St., with Pete Rogers officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Memorial Park in Boulder.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Longmont Emergency Unit, 1010 Alta St., Longmont, CO 80501.

Ed was born July 12, 1921, on a farm south of Torrington, the son of Edgar and Kittie (Putney) DeBrot. He grew up and received his education at country schools in the Huntley area and graduated from Torrington High School in 1939. He attended Teachers College in Lincoln, Neb., for one year before entering the service in 1943. He was discharged in 1946.
He then farmed with his father in the Huntley area until 1952, when he entered into business with his father-in-law in Lloyds Tire Store. After it burned down in 1962 he started Eds Tire Store. In 1969 he went to work for the state of Wyoming Revenue Department, where he worked as a sales tax collector. He retired in 1986.
Ed was a member of the Masonic Lodge, where he served as Worshipful Master Mason from 1967-68. He worked with the Demolay Boys for several years and was awarded the Legion of Honor Degree from them. He served as mayor of Torrington from 1966 to 1968. He loved to travel and they spent many winters in Arizona.
Ed is survived by his wife, Darlene of Torrington; a daughter, Marge McCoy and her husband Terry of Cyprus, Texas; a sister, Edna Ruth Riggs of Mesa, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Thomas Edgar and Robert Wayne; seven sisters; and one brother.

Darlene was born June 12, 1929, in Torrington, the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Spray) Lloyd. She grew up and received her education in Torrington graduating there in 1947. She then attended LPN training at Nebraska Western College in Scottsbluff. She married Edgar DeBrot Feb. 27, 1949, and they had three children. She worked several jobs in Torrington including the bakery, L.B. Murphy Co., the sugar factory, Wyoming Crop and Livestock, and Subway.
Darlene enjoyed sewing, knitting, gardening, and listening to music. She was a lifetime member of the Platte Valley Rebecca Lodge #30, a member of the United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, and was involved in Job's Daughters.
Survivors include her daughter, Margaret Darlene McCoy and her husband Terry of Cypress, Texas; sister-in-law, Edna Riggs of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren, Toni JoAnn Corinescu and her husband Gene of Plainfield, Ill., Jason Dwaine Fuss and his wife Tracie of Green River, Wyo., Joel Wade Fuss of Torrington, and Amber Crystal DeBrot Lanni of Seattle, Wash.; great-grandchildren, Cade and Ethan Corinescu, and Chantel, Jachob, and Abigail Fuss; and many cousins.
