Lakeland, Ohio or Cleveland, Ohio, United States.

I know the name is DeChant and the incident took place sometime in 1929 where two young ladies, probably aged 17-18, were sexually attacked after a dance. The attackers were sent to prison.
Looking for gravesite of a G-G Grandmother and her daughter

I am looking for the gravesite of Amelia Catherine Anna (Ruder) Dechant and her daughter Elizabeth Dechant. Both died on July 18, 1878 in or around the small unincorporated community of Munjor, KS. Amelia died in Child birth and Elizabeth died later the same day. Amelia's husband was Johann Dechant. Johann owned a farm near the NW part of the town at that time. Johann later died on a farm South of Bazine, KS and is buried in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, South of Bazine. However, Amelia is not buried there and there isn't any record of Amelia and Elizabeth being buried in St Francis Cemetery in Munjor, KS. If anyone could assist in finding this gravesite, it would definitely be appreciated. Thanks, Michael

Many of my cousins are Pfannenstiels. E-mail if you'd like more info...Good hunting.

LaDonna,
We are quoting from the same book (ie) "Faith, Joy and Tears" I met the authors when they had a book signing but haven't seen them in years. They have published a second book that traces the Klingshirn history back into its European roots. Haven't read that one though I have promised myself I would. I am 55 years old and remember many of the Klingshirn family members mentioned in the book. A great family - hard working, generous and pleasant people. Some of the off spring still live in the Avon-Avon Lake area.
I left Avon just about a year ago, following a job to Green, OH which sits astride I-77 between Akron and Canton. Send the photo to my work address, if you would.
PO Box 218
Green, OH 44232
Do you live in the New Bavaria area? We have 4 children and the oldest went to BGSU - our #3 went to the U of Toledo. As we only moved a year ago, we still have boxes yet unpacked, but I will dig out the history and review your mother and father's history. Please keep in touch - would be great fun to get together and discuss our common history.
Len DeChant

Initially, the name Marie DeChant rings no bells, but I do have a copy of a history of the Klingshirn family of Avon and Avon Lake, OH I will look through it and see if Marie is mentioned.
Please provide infor relative to where and when this marriage took place. I would enjoy seeing the picture - maybe something or someone will be familiar.
Hi. Came across your message in the Klingshirn board and would love any information you can give me.
I remember that a Marie DeChant was my mothers best friend and somewhere in my home I have a picture of my mother and Marie as young girls. Also Marie stood up for my mother when she married my father. The young man in the wedding photo that I have I cannot remember the name if it was ever told to me.
Would you like a copy of my mother and fathers wedding photo with Marie in it? Perhaps she is a relative of yours?
Thank you.
LaDonna Klingshirn Meek

Like so much of what i was told about the Dechants "it just ain't so".

I do know that there were five surviving children, Chase, John, Grant, Mina, Jane.

John was born in Ohio. I haven't found John or Chase in any of the censuses yet so I have no idea of the validty of any birth information.

Chase, John, Jane died in CA. Mina died in OH and Grant in IL.

I have no marriage information for Mina or Jane but assume they were married.

My best guess is that Peter was born here as Bismark did not hold political office until 1849. Chase was born in 1854 if you go by his age on the marriage license.
the timing is not right for the Bismark story.

I have come across a Eva Eggleston DeChant, b. 1899 Vt
d. March 1963. Eva parents were Franklin and Grace Eggleston
and lived in Albany, NY. Eva Eggleston DeChant is buried
next to her parents and sister in Memory's Garden in Albany,NY. Eva was listed as age 30 in the 1930 census and was living with her parents and sister, so she married some time after this.
Any help on this for who her husband was?

Susan Audy
