I'm trying to find info on Daniel Orville Dechert, Sr. Married to Edith Cornell, granddaughter of Ezra Cornell. They had 4 children: Daniel Jr, Wilmer, Perry and Louise. I believe the Dechert family lived in Roanoke, VA. If you know of anything that might be helpful, please let me know. Thank you!

George Dechert from NY

Looking for any information on a George Dechert that lived in New York around 1853. Wife's name unknown. One source says he was born in Germany, another that he was born in New York.

Daughter Wilhelmina/Wilhemina born Dec 23, 1853 in New York, NY. Married Edward B. Carr, born 1848 in New York, possibly around West Bloomfield, NY.

Minnie and Edward lived in Freeport, Stephenson Co., Il in the 1880 census. Minnie died in Gladstone, Delta Co, MI in 1907. They had two children born in Illinois, Delia E. born 1875 and Harriett I. born 1878.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I wrote you an earlier message. D'Echert is Basque, not Spanish, and Spanish does indeed, however, have the ch sound. (I speak it fluently0. I think there was a Mexican president named Echeverria and I remember your great-grandfather saying his name was related to that, but I do not remember what its meaning was.

Seeking any information on my maternal grandfather, HARRY A. DECHERT, b. 1 Apr. 1883 in Wheeling, W. Va. He lived in Pittsburgh, Pa. for most of his life until the 1930's and evidently has not been heard from since then. He may have relocated and possibly remarried and started another family. He may have been known by the names DECHER, DECKER or DECKERT.

Has anyone ever come across the name LOUIS DECHERT in their research? He is my great-grandfather and was originally from Hesse-Cassel. He was born around May 1847. I do not know who his parents were. LOUIS DECHERT emigrated to the U. S. in the late 1860's and settled in Wheeling, W. Va. where he married MARY ELIZABETH KURTZ in Jan. 1872. LOUIS DECHERT was a watchmaker and jeweler and continued in that occupation upon moving to Pittsburgh, Pa. c.1886. He died there in January of 1890, aged 42.

I would very much appreciate hearing from anyone who may have information on him. Thank you.

my last name is Cornell-d'Echert. originally Dechert. A Dechert married a Cornell, hence the joining of the two names. My original Decherts were from Spain and moved into France and then made it to America. Does anyone have any info about the spanish name Echart or Etxart? This is the spanish, original spelling. It's a name of spanish nobility in the basque province of spain. one of them was knighted, and then migrated into France, where, if nobility, the "d' " is added, thus producing D'Echert. Etxart is the spanish spelling, since there is no "ch" in spanish....the "ch" is the french equivalent. if anyone has ANY info, no matter how small or trivial, PLEASE let me know. thank you SO much. any leads are greatly appreciated.
