Don,
I'd be happy to share info and photos. I have a very well researched Dechow family tree I can send you, researched by my great uncle Donald F. Dechow, son of John H. Dechow. My membership here is currently expired so I can't send you messages via Ancestry.com. If you would like to contact me at gracie@chartermi.net I would be happy to correspond.
~Ruth

I too am a descendent of Friederich Dechow. He is my great-great-great grandfather. I recently joined Ancestry.com and am currently building my and my wife's family tree.

I am trying to piece together Friederich's marriages and the children of the marriages. There are a number of trees on Ancestry.com with conflicting information. I also have a document from my mother with family history.

Anyway, I'd love to see the old photographs. I can share a wedding photo of Fred A.Dechow & Maybelle Lackie which is very nice, if you are interested.

- Don Falk

Hi Karen,

Looking back at this old post I thought I'd contact you about those pictures you mentioned having of GK Dechow. We just had a Dechow family reunion this weekend and it's got me looking at genealogy again. If you wouldn't mind sending those photos I'd love to have them. Hopefully you have them scanned? Please email to gracie@chartermi.net. Thanks!

Hi,

My name is Allan Dichow, and I come from Denmark. I found out that my great grandfather came from Selmsdorf near Lübeck, and our real lastname is spelt Dechow.

My grandfathers name was Daniel Asmmus Dechow, born in Selmsdorf in 1835. His fathers name was Joachim Christian Dechow. Thats all that I know.
There is a little town near Selmsdorf which name is Dechow.

If you got any informations about the Dechows, I appreciate to hear from you.

Thank you.

My e-mail adress is:

allandichow@hotmail.com
I don't know alot about George Dechow family wise. He was a good friend of my great Aunt Katherine Pfeiffer's. I have an envelope with return address label- G K Dechow Maple City, Mich. I have two postcards from Glen Lake, Mich. to Katherine (nothing terribly interesting on them other than the very snowy pictures). He signs them 'Deck'.
He had a dog (a pincher I think) that he sent quite a few pictures to her of- her name was Peaches.
Somehow I know that he married eventually and had a sign likewise named George Dechow. I really don't have anything else.

Karen

Hi Karen,

Yes, it has been a while, but I'm still here! Looking through my family tree I don't see a George K. Dechow, but that doesn't mean he isn't "ours". Do you have any more information about him, where he fits into the family, etc? Are you a Dechow family member yourself? I'd be very interested in the pictures. Thanks!
Ruth
gracie@chartermi.net

I realize it has been some time since you posted this, but I have in my possesion some pictures of George K Dechow who was originally from Michigan. They are from the 1930's. He knew my grandmother's sister, but later married someone else. I thought if he had any kin out there they might like these pictures.

Karen

I probably don't have anything that you don't have, as I'm not related to this family other than Wilmah. I did look up more census records, so this is what I have:

Fred I. D. Dechow b. Jan 1830 in Mechlinburg (sp?), Germany m. Maria ?. Mary was b. Nov 1831/1832? in Mechlinburg, Germany. They married abt. 1858.
children: Fred H., William W., Willis W (same age in 1880 census). 6 total children, but only Willis and Fred were living by 1900.

Willis W. Dechow and Pearl E. Drew had the following children:
1. Wilmah Irene b. abt. 1904 and m. Orin Armstrong Marvin
2. Leo L. b. Apr 20, 1905 in NY and m. Marion S. ?. Leo died Jun 1972
3. Richard E. b. July 23, 1907 in NY and m. Bessie E. ?. Richard died on Sept 28, 1989.

Leo L. had at least these children: Robert and Bettie J.

According to the census records, Willis W. Dechow's parents were born in Mechlenburg, Germany. Willis was born Dec 1865 and died in 1937. I am related to the spouse of his child, Wilmah Irene Dechow. Wilmah married my cousin, Orin Armstrong Marvin and had a child Willis William Marvin. Do you know of this family at all? Willis Dechow's wife, Pearl Drew was born July 1881 and died in 1959. They are both bured in the Little Valley Rural Cemetery.

Dechow/Anderson families of Leelanau County

I am a descendent of Friederich Dechow, immigrant from Germany. His son John F. Dechow (Dago) remained in Leelanau County and raised a large family. He is my great-great grandfather. In the same area, my great grandfather Hans George Anderson settled after arriving from Norway with his two brothers. He too raised a large family and my grandmother was one of his daughters. Upon her death this past summer I discovered her large collection of old family photos and began this family history search.

I have information and many old photographs I'd be interested in exchanging with fellow Dechow and Anderson descendents. Please contact me if you are researching these families.

email: gracie@chartermi.net
