Yes, that was them! I have found that it was fairly common for families carrying a variation of the DeCourcy surname to have dropped the "De" during the 1800's and then add it back around 1900 (mine included).
Early birth records can be sketchy, but since Daniel died as late as 1934 there is a chance the names of his parents are listed on his death certificate. You can order a copy via VitalChek or the Maine State Archives.
I am very glad to hear you have taken a DNA test! There aren't enough lines tested yet to be able to identify a specific line through the test, but it does narrow the playing field. We may very well be related, we'll have to wait and see!
