I am a descendant of Hilaire Decoux and Elmira Rowan.

Their daughter Marie Alzire Decoux was born 13 Feb 1850 in St Martinville LA. Death unknown. I have a picture of her with her daughter Bertha Hebert taken in 1905 in Lake Charles. Marie married Belizere Hebert (1836-1916). My grandfather John Alphonse (1898 - 1982) was also born in Lake Charles but was taken to Youngsville with his brother Paul after their father died (Antonio Alphonse). My father was born in Youngsville in 1937. John Alphonse married Marie Higginbotham in 1932. Marie (1895-1984)
Hi Terry,
My great-grandmother was Euphemie "Mary" Decoux and she married Arcade Melanson. We are Cajun, there is no doubt about it, but I
also found out that the name Melanson came out of Aberdeen Scotland and England as well. Do you recognize the name Arcade? I will send you some more info later. Thanks, Tina

hello, sorry to get into your conversation:we look quiet like strangers in the dark!!hum! well, we are Lyonel & Eva Decouxand we are from the french alps, from Annecy:this town is the oldest place where the Decoux roots are deeply settled (evidences found already in the middle ages);
here and around our lake, the Decoux name history took place with some interesting events....So why so raw and directly coming in?, we are now discovering the old cajun Decoux roots through the net and we are very curious to kwow more about this. Have you ever experiment a whole american Decoux meeting in the US?? is there a sense of community common belonging?? are people aware of their common ancestors???
