Thank you for your post. I was only able to go back to Alberto Dedamos(my great grandfather). I do have a copy of the Ellis Island document. I found that he was from a small town near Florence, Italy. I was told that they changed DaDamos to DeDamos so it would sound less Italian
and more Greek. I dont know if that is true or why.

This is a old post. Hope we still connect. I believe I am talking to Gary? Correct? I'm Judy. We share grandparents Adelard "Adelore" Pichette and Malvina Poquette. Geraldina (sister to Hazel) was my grandmother. I am looking for Pichette and Pichette family photos and have some to share. Do you have any to share?

I have found several Menominee marriage records with the name Pichette. Is your Hazel Pichette the daughter of Delore and Melvine Paquette married 16 sep 1919 to Alberico Dedamos? There is also a sister Lillian listed. I am trying to acquire as much menominee family info as I can to put into a Menominee Tree online. There is aldo another person looking for Adelore Pichette info at (jaga@core.com).
Thanks for the Stanislaus info.

CORRECT E-MAIL ADDRESS

I would like to welcome you to the DEDAMOS BOARD.. If by chance you have found this board, feel free to asked any questions. I would like to clarify the e-mail address it should be "bainbridge@cybrzn.com" I've tried several times to correct this to no avail. The DEDAMOS family had its start in the U.S. in 1893 at Ellis Island when ANTONIO DADAMOS stepped off the ship WERRA, which had just arrived on April 17th 1893 from Genoa. Italy. Antonio was 32 years old at the time and single. His place of residence was TERAROLO, Italy. I have yet to find this Town on a map. Not much is known about him before this time. But it seems he was with a group of immagrants who recruited to work the new mines in the Upper Pennisula of Michigan. Antonio was born ca 1860. He settled in the Norway/Vulcan area of upper michigan, and had worked in the norway mine. He married a woman named Guiseppina Michaeli, Which I believe in the correct spelling. The surmane I found in a box of old records left to me by my Uncle Leonard DeDamos, has her named as McKelly but this is not an Italian name. And she was most definetly Italian. I have yet to research the marriage records of dickenson county. Antonio and Guiseppina had one son named ALBERICO DADAMOS born Sept 23 1896. This birth certificate has yet to be confirmed, as for the name gets changed to DEDAMOS sometime about the turn of the century. Why I don't know. But as for the tombstone which is located in Norway Mich cemetery, The named is DADAMOS/PARDON. Antonio died in 1900, after which Guiseppina had remarried a man named Guiseppe Pardon also of Norway,Mich. A good day up in Iron Mountain will clear up the loose ends here. As always any Information you can give to this board would be greatly appreciated.
