I am working on my family line in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas. My ggfather was Augustus Newton Deere who married Dona Inez Counts probably sometime around 1910 or 1915 (I believe in Arkansas). Rumor has it that the Deeres had come from Tennessee and that some of the line had changed their name to Deere from Deer or Dear sometime around the turn of the century. Augustus' children included Vernia Walter ("Cotton") Deere (who died in Amarillo, TX in 1964 or so) and Hughbert Deere (who died in Ardmore, OK in the 1980s). I look forward to any info. thanks
