Are you still searching for info on Robert Blake Deering? We have a Robert Blake Deering in our line. He was born in Pickens Co, Ga in 1814, married Mary Panter Lambert, and died in Hood County, Texas in 1902. Robert Blakes father was Ruben Deering, born in Orange Co, VA in 1775, married Sarah (maiden name unknown). Ruben died in Henry Co, Ga in 1846. If your Robert Blake matches our Robert Blake, I would like to exchange info and see where the connection is.

Ruben L Deering was born Feb 22, 1845 in Gilmer County, Ga. He married Susan Amazon Inghram. They had 6 children, Married Mary Eddie Sonora, Robert Irving, William Lowery, Pleas Deering, Annie Amazon, and Julia Emma. Evidently, Susan and the children migrated to Texas and Ruben stayed behind. I have heard stories about him being in Missouri,turned to crime and killed a man and fled to Kentucky where he became a justice of the peace !!!!!

Mattie Mae was married to Ruben Pleasant Deering. He also went by the name of Ralph P. Deering. His draft registration indicates that Mattie Mae was his wife. His death certificate states he was divorced. I believe they had one daughter together. I don't have anymore info on Mattie Mae. According to my mother, my grandgrandfather's name was William Roy Deering, he was a USA marine during USA invasion in NIcaragua Centralamerica, right here, he knew a nicaraguan woman and they had a boy, in this case my grandfather giving him the same my grandgrand father name. Later on, my grandfather got married and had a little girl, my mother, her name is Bertha Deering, and then my mother was a single mother that's why I have the Deering surname. Standish Acres he was a printer.1880 Census Standish Acres I Chicago, Cook, Illinois, a printer, aged 45 from Ireland birth date of 1837. Died 11/25/1905 married 10/18/1859 to Matilda Bernabe of & in Montreal Canada Anglican Faith.I also have the 1880 census in Chicago, Il. Standish arrived in the Port of New York from Liverpool in July 1857 from there I found him in Montral, Canada where he met Matilda Bernabe or Barnaby born 10/01/1939 in Canada died 1912 Chicago,il. Found the baptism of daughter Mary Matilda in 1861 and the burial of son Standish in 1865. There is another Acres couple - George and Annie. They were godparents for Mary Matilda. Standish and Matilda C. were godparents for several of George and Annie's children (1861, 1863).George was a Staff Sergeant 1st Battalion Seventeenth Regiment 17th regiment of Foot, also I believe he was Standish"s brother as word from my parents has it he had a twin brother Later in 1863, when his son Thomas George was baptized, looks like George was a color Sergeant 1st Battalion 17th Regiment of Foot. I have not been able to find Standish nor Matilda's record of immigration from Canada nor his ship record in New york to find the name of his parents or town of birth in Ireland. Also looking for Matilda C. Bernabe or Barnaby Family she was born 10/01/1939 in Canada died 1912 Chicago,Il.

Strangled by a Snake

Denison, Texas, October 29 - Wilton Potes who arrived here today with cotton from the Territory, reports the singular death of a little girl, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Deering, who reside in the Choctaw Nation, on Blue River. Last Sunday Mrs. Deering carried her child into the front yard, and sat her down on the ground, placing before her an article or two to play with. She then returned to the house to make beds and sweep out. When she performed her work she looked out of the front door into the yard, and was made speechless with horrow to discern a large snake encircled around the child's neck. Mrs. Deering ran to the child, but it was dead. her tongue was protruding from the mouth, the eyes bulging from their sockets. The snake was still tightening its deadly coils, when Mrs. Deering grabbed it by the head and dispatched it with a stick. The snake is known in this section as the blue racer. it is large and powerful and will ascend the tallest tree with lightning speed. It is not considered vicious, however.

My James and Eliza Deering started in Lowell Mass. around 1840, maybe earlier and ended in Detroit Mich. around 1890. They were both born in Ireland, and their 9 children all born here. Any simularities? The Deering brothers all went to the San Francisco area around 1900 or so.
