information on grandparents

I am looking for any information on the Deerey family. My grandfather was Francis Deerey born in Donegal Ireland and moved to Glasgow Scotland in his teenage years. He then went on to marry Helen McAffery and have 4 children, Anne, Margaret, Frank and Helen. Any information on him or any other family would help in building my family tree.

My great-great grandmother was Catherine Deery b. about 1838-1845 and died in late 1911 who married Cornelius Houton both of Malin Head/Ardmalin Clonca Parish/Donegal COunty. She was called Kitty and Kate and Catherine. My grandmother was named after her. I am not sure who were her parents but based on the 1901 and 1911 censuses there are 9 households within the Ardamlin area consisting of 12 areas, with Deerys in them. I am trying to research Deerys and not sure what to think at this time although based on some of the names that repeat in my family I could make some guesses. Thanks, Sue

I am looking for any info on the Deery's family, the Tunney's, the Timoney's and the Cleary's. These are my great grandparents and great-great grandparents. I read that a fire in Donegal destroyed all the records prior to 1900 so any info would be greatly appreciated.
I have a baptismal certificate for a great aunt (Tunney) listing St. Patrick's in Kilbarron Parish. From what
I've been told my great granparents were from Ballyshannon. We are assuming the rest of the families are from there too.
Thanks in advance for the help.
Margie

Looking for any information on Ella Derry (or Deery) Trotter Ulbricht. I know she died in 1937 in Long Beach, Los Angeles Co., California. She was on the Voter's Record in 1936.

She was married to William Trotter, who either died or divorced prior to 1900 in Detroit, Wayne Co., Michigan. They, or she, had come from CANADA, probably Ontario.
they had a son, William Trotter, Jr. who shows up on the 1930 Federal Census in Long Beach, California.

She was married to Henry Ulbricht (Ullbricht, Allbricht, Albricht) and had 2 daughters; Eva A. Ulbricht, and Henrietta Ulbricht (Allbricht).

They evidently moved to California after William Trotter, Sr. died in 1918.

Ella would have been my great-grandmother.
Hi, My Great-grandfather was from Ballyshannon, in my search I haven't found a sister named Mary. He had 2 brothers that I know of Charles and Henry. My great-grandparents came here in 1900. I haven't looked at the documents I have lately, but I will take a look to see the names of the other sibs. Sorry though I don't think there is a relation, due to the different parrishes. I do know while my great-grandparents settled on NY, some of the family settled in NJ.
One thing I did find out years ago while searching at a Mormon library in San Diego was that Deery is a popular name over there. It took me over 3 hours of pouring over records to find the right Joesph Deery.

Good luck with your search.
Margie

my great grandmother - Mary Deery came to America, NYC, Ellis Island on 27 October 1906 from County Armagh, Tyrone She is listed as 37 years old on the ship manifest, that would make her year of birth 1869. Perhaps she could be the sister of Joseph? My gradmother, Bridget Deery ( Mary's daughter) was traveling with her and was 17 years old. I am trying to get my grandmother's birth certificate, and identify any living relations in Ireland.

Do you know where in Ireland your Catherines were from?
We don't know if Catherine came here to the US before her nephew (my great-grandfather). The only Catherine we see on the chart is the sister of my Great-great grandfather in Ireland circa 1865-1870. We understand that Deery is such a common name in Ireland that unless you have the correct parish and dates its almost impossible to be sure you have the right family connection.
HI!

I have a Catherine Deery in my line ... in fact, 2 Catherine Deery's
both in NYC 1880 Census

1) Catherine Deery born Ireland died January 1893 - buried in Calvary Cemetery Woodside., Queens, NY. I am right now waiting for a response from the cemetery on who else is buried in this plot.

2) Catherine Deery born Ireland - married my great Grandfather William Colby
approx 1887 in NYC - my grandfather William John was born of this union.
Catherine Deery Colby died in 1893 of complications from a miscarriage.

There was also a Charles and Maryann Deery in this same household on the 1880 NY Census. Another family living with them had the last name TOBIN.

There were also cousins by the name of Reilly and Keenan!

Anything sound familiar to you?

Katie Colby
