DeFreese Family Tree

Okay I have new information on my family tree different than what I posted before. I understand that my family was brought in by slavery to a place called FRIESLAND in the Netherlands. So the story is that my ancestors were brought over most the common names were used so the names the after this town in the Netherlands but thru time the name was changed to DEFREESE. It was said at first the land was dropped from the end of Friesland and the name was Friese after that I am not to sure how the current spelling become to pass. So if this sound sort of familiar or any one out there know a Joe/Joseph Defreese from the NJ area who hand a son Jerome Defreese and a daughter Starayne please reply to tyrone.defreese@gmail.com

I am searching for the family tree for William A. Defreese. He was married to Eula Belle Leatherwood. They resided in Anniston, Alabama. William worked at the Anniston Foundry. They had four children: Mary Lucille Defreese, infant daughter Defreese (died in birth), William A. Defreese (Jr.), an Clyde Defreese.

I believe he ties into your Defreese family tree. William (Sr) was born 11 Jan 1875 and died 21 Jun 1939.

William (Jr) was KIA during WW-II. He was a highly decorated Airman - receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a Staff Sgt dying on a mission over the oil fields of Plesoti, Rumania.

Clyde Defreese moved to Peoria, Illinois and worked at the Catipillar Plant there until he retired years ago. I would like to make contact with Clyde and his family.

Mary Lucille Defreese - I have no information on her at all.

Appreciate any information or leads.

Dhines
Samuel DeFreese Sr. was the son of john and Margaret Mann DeVries the son of John DeFries who, I believe joined the Orange County Malitia and listed his race as Indian. In all the census' he spelt his name DeFriece. They had 10 children.: John whio died in infancy, Harriet, Emiline, Alpheus, Catherine Margaret, Eliza or elizabeth, Samuel Jr., Nelson Budd, Abraham, and Jesse Franklyn. He had one sister, Catherine and 5 brothers: Peter, John, Elias, James, and Thomas. My family came from Catherine's daughter, Mary Emaline Smith.
Hope this info is helpful.
Myrtle

Hi Mary
I am Dora Defreese Daniel's grandaughter. I am the 'eldest' daughter of her youngest son also an Asa Wesley Daniel. I was a war baby conceived when Dad was stationed in the U.K. and consequently adopted. However I searched for my birth family and was able to meet Dad before he died but have very little information on my cousins etc so would be very glad to hear from you.
Warm regards Anne
P.S. I am just getting used to the net so bear with me as I have never used a message board before but I am more used to e-mail.

One is tin type and the other a regular
both in excellent condition. What a small world we live in. I had
heard something about Nate but it was so long ago. I know that Nate's
parents were Mark Defreese and Rebecca Grigbsy Defreese. My grandmother
was named after Rebecca her name being Tacy Rebecca Defreese.
Well would like to talk more soon. Let me know if you are interested in
pitures. I'd sure be interested in reading that book.
Grace Woods

DeFriest

My greatgrandmother was Emma DeFriest born in Dec 1859 in Michigan. Her parents were John DeFriest (b. 1825) and Mary Jane Schoonmaker, both of New York. John's parents were Jacob DeFriest and Ester Heit of New York. Does anyone know anything further back? I believe that Jacob's father was Jacob M. Defreest of Greenbush, New York, but I am not sure. Does anyone out there know anything more. By the way, most names De Vries, De Fries, De Freese, De Freeze, etc. without the final "t" are not derived from "De Forest" but are a separate surname meaning "the Frisian", i.e., "inhabitant of Friesland, a province of the Netherlands". The surname De Vries and its variants is the second most common in the Netherlands today.

Hi!. I have two Mark Defreese's listed in my research. #1 was born Apr 30, 1823 and died Feb 4 1904 at Sumner, in Coos County Oregon. His son Samuel Edward DeFreese (no known b/d dates,) married Annie Bell(e) HARRIS in 1884, and purchased land in Humboldt Co in 1892. They had the following children that I am aware of, all born in California: Mark DeFreese (#2), Silas Jay, Samuel Everett, Thomas E., Charles D., Emily Belle, Tacy, Lydia, and Miranda
I believe that HARRIS, California is connected to Annie's family, although I haven't had time to prove it yet. There is also a HARRIS Quadrangle.
If you are interested in more, or have information that you are willing to share, please email me directly at laurieundis@hotmail.com
thanks.

My Aunt Eileen told me that they had William and( Lloyd?) DeGroat. It will noy be totally clear until I get the Family Tree from her, sometime after the New Year. However, I WILL try to keep you busy until then: William married Jane___? They had; Theodore, Hanna, Elias, John, Catherine, Henry and Vivan, as far as I know to date. Vivan is my Grandfather. He married Minnie__? They had Wallace (my father), Eileen, Dorothy, Ronnie, Betty, Joan, Bert, Carlton, Marilyn, Kathlyn, Elain and Vivan Jr. I do not have all of the husbands yet, but I did meet them all in NY and NJ, back in 1962 and again in 1969. I have six children, Michelle, Alondra, Arianna, Michael Ryan, Lisa, Michael Jr., and Shelly. My sister Adriene married Tommy Edwards. they have three children: Alayna, Le Shaun and Elia. The children (in order) Alayna has 2, I forgot names. LeShaun has Sage and Mason. Elia has a boy named Ray. I have 9-11 Grandchildren.I lost Michelle in California and have not been able to find her yet. Alondra has a girl, Kiarie. Arianna has a girl,DeJae and Lisa has a boy, Ramone. E-mail me in the future and we can figure out where you fit in this HUGE family. When I get the FT from my Aunt it will be easier. The tribe is Ramapough Mountain Indians. Fax this for more info: http://Ramapoughmountainindians.com/about.html. Read the page called "About Us". pg.!, last paragraph,(note) as well as pg.3, 8th paragraph. Again, Welcome and Peace.

Since my original post, I had learned of, and visited, their burial site. Daughter Leona, and son Martin are buried there also.

I want to eventually identify all descendants of Wm and Mary. The family moved from Carroll Co. GA to unknown locations. Some descendants live in Carroll Co. now.

Thanks again. Happy searching!
