Re: Anton to the nth degree

Anton DeGreef is the son of Peter DeGreef and Susanna Wouters. Anton Fred is the son of Ferdinand DeGreef and Catherine Schwagel. Ferdinand is the brother of Anton and son of Peter. Anton Fred is the second husband of Sophie Phillips. First wife was Katherine DeLeers. The original spelling for the name is DeGreef, however, after immigration the children of Peter and Susanna went by both DeGreef or DeGrave. Francis, Ferdinand, Frank and Desire went by DeGrave and Anton and Zachery went by DeGreef. The generations to follow have been confused as to relationships since then.

Greetings to all De Grave family researchers,

Someone just pointed out to me something on the LDS website, www.familysearch.com. If you are on the website, do a search on Peter De Greef. Apparently someone has done research on the family back to the early 1700s. I don't know how much this might help you individuals who are trying to find the ancestors of Andrew and Barney De Grave, but maybe this will be of value to you.

Have a Great Day,

Jim

Anton to the nth degree

How many Anton DeGraves are there??
We have been researching back as far as Peter DeGrave b.25 Mar 1806. There we get stopped.

Quest #1: Anyone out there have further information on this line?

Moving along, we looked into another of my mother's line, the Panure line. It appears that Xavier Panure b. 15 May 1849, m. Maria Theresa Tasquin b. 8 Dec 1854 (m. date unk). They had one or two children that we have found, Victor Panure (no dates), and Gustav Panure b. Jun 1889.
Gustav married Sophia Phillips b. 6 Feb 1890. Marriage took place on 8 Nov 1910. We have found no children of this union. This marriage ended in divorce prior to 2 Jun 1920.
Sophia then married Anton DeGrave b. Feb 1874. Marriage took place on 2 Jun 1920 (that is why we say the first marriage ended prior to that date). This union produced three children, Richard, Rosalee, and Harry (no dates for any of these).

Quest #2: We cannot find a direct link between the two Antons. Can anyone shed some light?

Thanks!
Emails always welcome! mstrblue@bellsouth.net

David

Rick, I received your reply and am sad to inform you that the DeGrave family I am working on is in Brown County, Humboldt area. They came from Oud Heverlee, Brabant, Belgium. I know in looking at the DeGrave data, that there are many people further back in the files who are Waterford DeGraves. Good Luck.

No, I have no knowledge past the 60's of the family. You might look in the Waterford phone book and contact Art DeGrave, he is in his 70's and has lived in Waterford forever.

Jerry

Theresa, is it possible that your family originated in Brown County, Wisconsin? I am from Green Bay, and the DeGrave Family has been his since the first Belgian immigration in 1855. The family originates in the village of Oud Heverlee, Brabant, Belgium. Do you know if your great grandfather was born in Watertown or did he move there? You may have Brown County ties.

I am working on the decendants of Peter De Grave.
He was born in Brabant Belgium, and lived from
1806 to 1877. He moved to the area east of
Green Bay around the Holy Martyrs Catholic Church.
The family was very prolific and he had about
ten kids.

1. Francis had about 13 kids
2. Anton had 12 kids
3. Desire had 13 kids
4. Anna (1846 to 1875)
5. Ferdinand had 8 kids
6. Henry had one son
7. Zachary had 11 kids.
8. Frank had 4 kids.

Apparently there were two others, Engel and
Andrea, but there is no information on these.

If there is anyone out there who thinks that
you might be connected to this family, could
you send me an e-mail? I am presently workin
on this family.
