I apologize for not replying sooner but I only noticed you enquiry last week.
You are the first person I have found that Knows of this family.
Joseph de Haas was my paternal great grandfather.
He married my great grandmother Julie PAM on 17th.July 1878 at the Princes St. Synagogue, Spitalfield. They had three children- Martha de Haas (b:1878),Marianne de Haas (b:27/03.1880) & Meyer de Haas (b:1882)(changed his name to Michael Hayes).
They lived in various places in Spitalfields (Dutch Jewish areas) but after about 1887 they lived in the Rothschild Tenement buildings Spitlalfields.
Joseph de Haas has always been described as a Cigar Maker. He died on 27/03/1887 of a Natural Thrombosis, there was a post-mortem and an inquest.
He is buried in Plashet cemetery east London, the grave is unmarked.
His wife Julie de Haas died 29/07/1913 and is also buried in Plashet cemetery grave N-20-8 the grave has a stone (I have a photo of this).
I do not have any photo’s of Joseph or Julie.
Martha de Haas lived all her life around the Spitlafield area unmarried and died on 09/08/1949 buried in Tower Hamlet cemetery.
Meyer de Haas (Jeweller and Watch maker) married Rachel Blackstone at the Weston Synagogue London 21/08/1910. He died on 18/07/1948 buried at Bushy Jewish cemetery .
Marianne de Haas (my grandmother) married Charles Fox (Fuchs) in Manhattan city hall NY on 28/08/1900. She died on 18/08/1967 Tunbridge Wells Kent and was cremated.
