Surnames: Dehainaut, Hainaut. etc
Dear Margaret. I think I see how the name Highnote came from DeHainaut...It is the latter part Hainaut, pronounced "Hainou" I think this is very interesting...who knew.
Most of the place mentioned on our family tree, weather france, Belgium (not a country until around 1830 something)or Holland, and germany are so close together it's sometimes hard to decide where they are from...Firmin's Mother was Louise Schmidt, born in Holland, and my grandmother was born in France, but they always claimed to be belgium. They moved constantly, going where ever their was work in the glass factorys. This is how they ended up going to the United States...First to Pa. then to Indiana, and finally to west Virginia. I would be most interested in learing more about your family...It is possable that the ansestors you memtioned are related to My G Grandfather. Thanks again for the information. Rochelle
