As far as I know this John Beauragard DeHart was married to Martha Mason and Lily. Alice Grant was married to my grandfather, one of John B DeHart's son's....William McKinley DeHart....He died in 1976. I am not aware of any Nellie Grant....Do you have any info on her?
I have been searching high and low on any info on Martha Mason DeHart...who was Cherokee and my grandfather always told me he was a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokees but I cannot find any info out on her branch.....
I did find her Death Certificate in Bryson City and she died at a young age of 42 from TB. I know that John B.DeHart married Lily and that Papa(William McKinley DeHart, John's son helped to care for in her old age because I remember as a child her living in an airstream type mobile home located next to Papa's house in Swannanoa, NC in Buncombe County.....I have been looking for any info on Martha Mason DeHarts parents, siblings and if they were in the Records...I believe she was full Cherokee...Papa looked like he was full Cherokee, but of course as far as I know his father John B.DeHart was not. My father was William McKinley DeHarts son, John Elmer DeHart who left NC in the late 50's and lived in central Florida....Dad passed away in 2005 from a Primary brain tumor and was returned home to Buncombe County where he was buried.....
