I am researching this family also. In the 1870 census there is a child David, age 9. No-one else seems to list this child, though they mention the adopted child. Do you have an explanation for David being in the family in 1870?

My connection to the Dehart family is my Great Grandmother Kansas Columbia Dehart, the daughter of Eli Martin Dehart.
Kansas was married to my GGrandfather Jeff Davis in Scott County Arkansas in the year 1891.
I am seeking any information about Jeff Davis that any one might have between his birth in 1866 to thier marriage in 1891.

John Dehart and Rebacca Seabolt are my GG grandparents. The had a daughter named Elizabeth (Lezzie) borned in Arkansa in 1840. In 1855 (at age 15) Lezzie married William J. Mickle (Billy James). If anyone has any information on Rabacca Seabolt please email me a clyde@free2vacation.net (please put Rebacca Seabolt in the subject line of the email). I was told that Rebacca came to Arkansa with her family on the Trail of Tears in 1838 - 1839. I thank her mother was a full blood Cherokee and her father was Garman. I believe she meet John Dehart in Arkansa around 1839 and were merried shortly thereafter. I would like any information on her parents. Also, information on her life after she remerried and moved to Wilburton, OK.

George was born April 8, 1768 in IRELAND. Not in PA as so many state in the commetns and gedcoms. This has been confirmed in subsequent censuses wherein his son, Alexander Hamilton Dehart lists his father' birthplace as "Ireland".George W. is my third great-grandfather, documented. My personal DNA tests over the past three years has identified my ancestral origins as "south Irish" genographic haplo group" r1b1b2a2. You may contact me at david@dehart.com for further info. BTW, my DNA rules out Dutch and Germany origins.

Died 24 Oct 1932, in Reading Berks, Pennsylvania. I believe her father is George Washington DeHart, a shoemaker. Her name appears in the 1870 census. In 1860 GW Dehart is shown as married to a Mary A.. In 1870, he is married to a woman named Leah . I believe Mary A. is the mother. I am trying to find who Mary is.
Mary C. Dehart married William Kenneth Saylor in Reading in 1881. Mary and William are my paternal grandparents.

Irvin/ Ervin DeHart b. 1887

Trying to find gr-grandfather, Irvin/ Ervin DeHart, b. in Illinois abt. 1887. The family lived in Flora, Il., and is listed in Clay County Il. in the 1910 census, before they came over to St. Louis area for work. He had children (according to the census) Carlon, b. 1908; Eugene, 1910, and Hazel, b. 1918. Married Ada ?, also born Illinois.

Would really appreciate clue to his parents, listed as also born IL.

He is not found listed as Ervin in 1900 in Illinois, by my sources.

I am the great granddaughter of John Joseph Riordan. His father, Timothy Riordan was from Cork, Ireland. I also corresponded with Laura Lawless in the late eighties. The Laura who was married to Fred. I still have the letters. According to Laura, the Boyer, Hadley and Lawless families migrated from Jamesport, KY to MO together.

Thanks for getting in touch! I'm studying today and tomorrow, but will pull up the files soon and see where I left off on the Deharts. I developed and then left for occasional work when things got busy the family tree of a high school classmate of mine -- we're talking high school being 30 plus years ago -- who has links to Deharts (not a descendant) in his father's Swain Co., NC tree, and to Deharts (again, not a descendant) in his mother's Rowan Co., KY tree. I usually fill in closely associated lines because there often turns out to be a connection futher back in the tree, which is how I ended up researching Deharts. I think I was wondering, too, if anyone knew how Rowan Co., Kentucky, Deharts were connected to Swain Co., North Carolina Deharts.

who married Kansas Dehart Stepp july 26 1891 in scott county arkansas. They had one son William Elder Davis who was my Grandfather.
I remember my Great Grandmother.My parents didn't know who Jeffs parents were since he died when my Father was quite young. nor can we find any official record prior to thier marriage.
Names mentioned by William Eldaer Davis as Jeffs half brothers were Enoch, Allen, Zach, William or Bill.
I would greatly appreciate any information about Jefferson.

1850 census, Wayne, Fayette Co, OH: Joseph Bryant (29), wife Charity (25), and children William (6) and Joseph (3). Also in the household were Charity's mother, Mary Reed (63), Nancy McHenry(40), and Luther R. McHenry. Joseph was a farmer and Luther was listed as laborer. No value for property was listed.
1860 census, Jasper, Fayette Co, OH: Jos. N. Bryant (41), wife Charity (34), and3 children - Jos. F. (13), C.J. (10), and E.W. (7m). They were 2 doors away from Charity's sister, Nancy McHenry and family. Joseph was a miller with property valued at $1200 and $400.

The Polly Harper who married William Reed was born in 1787 and died after 1850. She was living with her daughter, Charity, in the 1850 census. This Polly Harper was the daughter of William Harper and Nancy Farris. Sorry, but I'm not familiar with your Polly Harper, born 1811.

I'm sending you what I have on Martin H. DeHart's ancestors. As you surmised, I have him descending from Nathaniels son John Harvey. I'm sending a .pdf document to help show the relationships.

I'm not sure how much I can help with the your research team. I'm strictly amateur. I have gone to a few cemeteries in Swain County to get headstone pictures (I just got back from Brush Creek Cemetery and too a few DeHart photo's). I also have every book I can find on Swain County, North Carolina, including the Heritage Book, Cemetery Book, Marriage Books, Death Indexes, and Delayed Birth Indexes. If these aren't available to you, I'd be happy to do whatever lookups you or your team would like.

Hello Ruth. Yes, I was finally able to connect John to the family when I obtained his marriage certificate last week which named his parents. Go to rootsweb.com, click Family Trees, in the database search box enter dondurrua to get to my tree. In the index you will find John DeHart born 1 January 1885. His father was my 1st cousin 4 times removed.

I have info for you, would love to chat. Deahrt is my grandpa only there was alot of argument over weather he was a loving or a dehart I have the story though. My name is Donna Stephens and roy harvey dehart was grandpa, john henry dehart was ggp, and john dehart was gggp. The Lovings
came in i believe with annie simon loving dehart. Loving died and she married dehart who lived with them.

All the Deharts I know about from Swain County, NC are decendents of Nathan DeHart who came from Rowan County, North Carolina. All of his children were born in KY or TN and most moved with him when he went back to an area of North Carolina that was Indian Territory at the time. The area became Macon and in the 1870's, Swain County. The part of Rowan Co. NC that Nathan came from is in present day Catawba Co. not present Rowan Co. NC.

My GG Grandmother name was Polly Harper from Rocky Springs Montgomery N.C. She had a Daughtor Pelinia Harper and a Grandson Dewitt Harper. Polly was born 1811. do You know anything about these people? My Grandfather was Dewitt. Charity was found in the 1900 Census of Alameda Co., CA living with her daughter Jenny C.(Bryan) Doane who m. Prince A. Doane, b. 13 Jul 1845, Eastham, Barnstable, MA.
Their children were;
William Preston Bryan, d. 25 Aug 1859, buried Old Pisgah Cem., Ross Co., OH

The 1900 Census of Alameda Co. indicates Charity was 74 years of age denoting birth in 1826.
