Classification: Obituary
Four Deisenroth siblings came to Rock Island IL from Hessen-Cassal, Germany in the mid 1800's: Anton was the first and the others that followed were William, Henry, and Marie. I have information on all four.

VETERAN CIVIL WAR, ILL LONG TIME, EXPIRES
-------------------
Anton Deisenroth, For 40 Years IN the Barber Business Here, Victim of Pneumonia
-------------------
Anton Deisenroth, 80, for 40 years a barber in this city, died at 11:30 this morning at his home, 1308 Fourth avenue, after six-months of illness which followed an attack of pneumonia. He had been retired from active work for 15 years.

He was born in Hessen Cassel, Germany, March 21, 1839. Upon coming to the United States when he was 18 years old, in 1857, he began working at the trade he later followed in this city. He had already begun to achieve success in this line when called to war in 1861. He saw arduous service in the following two years, taking part in most of the big engagements between the North and South, such as those of Chickasaw Bayou, the siege of Vicksburg, Lookout Mountain and Mission Ridge. Upon returning home with a hororable discharge he opened a shop on Market Square, now conducted by his son, George B. Deisenroth, and three months later married Ursula Stroehle, on Nov. 20, 1864. Fifteen years ago he retired and six years ago, on Aug. 3, 1913, his wife passed away. The deseased was very well known here because of his long residence and admirable character.

He is survived by four children. Mrs. Fred J. Fisher of Kenosha, Wis.; Mrs. Frank C. Downs and George B. Deisenroth of Rock Island, and Ada B. Deisenroth at home. A brother, Henry Deisenroth, a sister, Mrs. Mary Seidel, four grand children and one great grandchildren also survive him. Funeral arrangements have not been completed
