From what I have seen it is a fairly common name.
There are Dekeysers in many areas of Belguim.
If you know that your family came from Brussels you might be able to get some info from the Archives, rue Tannuers # 65, Brussels, (I think the post code is 1030). If they came from another city you would have to write to the Maison Communale (Town Hall) for that city. Good luck with your search.

Hello Simmone,
I am not sure if I can be of much help, I do not read Dutch. Most of the Belgians in our area of Wallon descent so I can read a LITTLE French. My DeKeyser ancestor also spoke Wallon although I'm told the name has Flemish origins. Gabriel DeKeyser; his wife, Rosalie Spruetels; and their children, Walter (Wautier), Joseph and Angelique left LaHulpe, Brabant, Belgium in 1855 and came to Namur, Door County, Wisconsin. I beleive I remember seeing some records of a Bartholome DeKeyser who settled in Green Bay, WI but I do not know anything about his family. I do not know of any from the Boston area.
Sincerely, Sue H

Jules DeKeyser

Jules was the son of Wautier DeKeyser and Josephine Delveaux. He had at least 12 brothers and sisters. Wautier DeKeyser was born10 June 1831 in LaHulpe, Brabant Province, Belgium and came to America with his parents, a brother , and a sister. They settled near Namur Town of Union, Door County, WI (mailing address would be Brussels). Wautier and his family joined the spiritualis church along with Josephine's family. They moved to Green Bay apparently after the birth of all their children and are buried at Woodlawn Cemetery. If you could help fill in some of Wautier's family I would exchange information on the rest of the family.
You can e-mail me at suehavel@greenbaynet.com

Surname Change

My Family came from Amsterdam in the 1700's. In the middle 1800's they changed their surname from DeKeyser to Keyser, dropping the De. Many Keyser's from that line are buried in Toledo, Ohio. (Jacob, Harry, William, Kathryn, George)dating from the 1850's.
