Grand Rapids Herald, July 1, 1941 -- An illness of one week was fatal to Mrs. Bessie Dekker, 69, a Grand Rapids resident for 60 years, who died at her home, 1032 Helen St., N.E., early Monday. She is survived by her husband, Peter; four daughters, Mrs. David Kooi, Mrs. Fred Brumels, Mrs. William Hertel and Mrs. Simon DeVos; three sons, John Arthur and James, all of Grand Rapids; four sisters, Mrs. Maggie Sieswerda, Miss Carrie Bergman and Mrs. Dena Hinken of Grand Rapids, and Mrs. Bertha Stover of San Francisco; two brothers, Walter and Louis Bergman of Grand Rapids; 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Van't Hoff funeral home. Burial will be in Garfield cemetery.
