I am looking doe any information about James Delafield (or similar spelling) He was a weaver in Appleton Wiske, Yorkshire and think he was married to Jane.

His daughter Jane married in 1851 to a Robert Trewhitt.

I have a gt grandmother named Clotille Delafield Blankman (Maxwell), who had a brother named Delafield Blankman. I have a feeling that someone in the family who is now deceased told me that Delafield came from a family name, but I have no information on the origin of this name.
Can anyone tell me more about the Delafield family, and where they came from. My Blankmans lived in NYC.

NEW LONDON - Marina B. Delafield, 88, died Saturday at The Lebanon Center after a long illness. She was born in Gloversville, N.Y., the daughter of George and Maude Batty. She lived in Darien, Conn., before moving to New London in 1970. She was active in many local charities, including the American Red Cross, Sixty Plus and the New London Hospital. Delafield enjoyed needlepoint, bridge and cooking. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, James Delafield; a son, Mason Delafield of New London; a daughter, Ann Boyle of Hamilton, Bermuda; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to New London Hospital, 270 County Road, New London 03257. Chadwick Funeral Service, New London, is in charge of arrangements
