Classification: Query
Surnames: Dillineaux, Delano, Baptiste
In all of my research I have not found very much information about the NYC Delano family from the late 1700s.
In my family it seems I descend from a Susanna Dillineaux who appears to either have a brother, or father named Jonathan Dillineaux (married to a Jane).
With the overall lack in the appearance of the name with that combination of letters, I suspect it is more likely Delano, or Delanoy (or otherwise similar). The records with that spelling all stem from church records at Trinity Church (Wall Street), so I suspect it is just a case of mispelling.
I know that during that time frame there was a Jonathan Delano (possibly a shipmaster) in NYC. I would really like to tie this family into something more definitive. It's impossible at this point with that alternative spelling so I am looking for a Susanna Delano born about 1755 and who lived in NYC, married a John Baptist(e) - also a shipmaster.
Any input is greatly appreciated. I know some folks on here have huge databases of Delanos, so I hope to hear from anybody who may have some Susanna's in there.
Thanks,
James
