The Delap Family that settled in Granville NS was from Barnstable, Massachusetts. I have researched their family records in Barnsatble because two of the daughters remained in that area and I am a desendant of one of them, Rose Delap. I have also been to Granville and Delap's Cove, NS and have visited the graves of these Delaps and the gravestone for one references Barnstable, MA. In the story I have read about the George and Ann, James' mother died off the shore of cape cod (see the story in my tree). James Delap (b 1715)and many of his children (including a son James born in Barnstable in 1759) moved to Graville after his elder son Thomas had purchased a farm there but then Thomas died off the coast of Nantucket in a bad winter storm on December 6, 1771 and left the farm to his father James.
