DoD Identifies Army Casualties

The Department of Defense announced today the deaths of seven soldiers who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. They died Oct. 27 in Arghandab Valley, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked their vehicle with an improvised explosive device. They were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, 5th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Wash.

Killed were: (see link for complete release)

Sgt. Fernando Delarosa, 24, of Alamo, Texas.

Elida D. DeLaRosa, age 65, was born Feb. 22, 1942, in Crystal City, Texas to Pedro Jr. and Lucilla (Rodriguez) Zamora, has flown away with her guardian angels at her side to the gates of heaven on July 31, 2007.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Frank C. DeLaRosa, Jr., her daughters, JoAnne(Dan) DeLaRosa, Michelle (Dave) DeLaRosa, sons Frank (Angie) DeLaRosa IV, Dino (Traci) DeLaRosa, Gary DeLaRosa, Jason DeLaRosa and Ryan DeLaRosa; nine grandchildren Calie, Jensen DeLaRosa, Kortney, Jaret and Jaden Mirelez, Destiny, Emily DeLaRosa, Rhylan and Jaden Mirelez; her mother she adored dearly, Lucilla Zamora; her sisters Mary (Che) Martinez, Lucy (Max) Anderson, Betriz (Bill) Herrera, Salina (Art) Castro; brothers Jose (Anita) Zamora, Mario (Olga) Zamora, Charlie (Sylvia) Zamora, Duane (Gina) Zamora and of course her "number one princess" Savanna Rose Benedict.

She was preceded in death by her father Pedro Zamora.

Recitation of the Rosary will be said Wednesday, Aug. 1, at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 5 p.m., Thursday at the church. Inurnment will be in Our Lady of Fatima Prayer Garden.

Do you know if your grand father had half brothers and sisters by the last name of Cruz My grand fathers name was Pancho Cruz and had a half brother and sister by the last name of Delarosa. He was raised around the Lockhart area.

Out of all the postings your name Becky is the only familiar word. I'm from East L.A. originally and my father Alfonso C. De La Rosa was born in Valentine Texas. His father was Rosendo De La Rosa and mother was Dolores Chavez. My father had an older brother named Arthur and he had two daughters named rachel and becky. I have an half brother named Alesandro Alfonso De La Rosa somewhere. His mother was Anna Maria Baldani Guerra. Also my home is now in Alabama.

My family started in Chiuawa Chiuawa Mx. w/Domingo Lopez,(my grandfather) My mother was born in Decatur,IN.(Jesus E.Lopez) and then my father Luis DeLaRosa and she met. He's from Robstown Tx. Hi, my name is Cynthia DeLaRosa my father's name is Andres DeLaRosa Jr., my grandfather's names is Andres Sr. I was born in Raymondsville, Texas back in 1970. But before than my family had move to Immokalee, Florida. And the only reason I was born in Texas is because my mother was visiting her sister there. Growing up I had heard that my grandfather had a mistress in Texas and that my grandmother had found out and that is why they moved away from there. But not too much was said about it. My grandfather does have a brother named Manuel he has moved back to Texas. My grandfather had children w/ this other lady. I think there were 2 girls and 1 boy or 1 girl and 2 boys but I'm pretty sure there were 3. This lady used to work at a local bar there in Texas. My grandparents had 13 children together one of them died in a car accident in VA and from what I heard one of those siblings attended. My uncle name that passed away was Juan Antonio DeLaRosa, maybe you heard or maybe you can ask if one of your aunts attend. Then you'll know that we are related. Petra Delarosa married Jose Rivera had a daughter named Isaura who is my grandfathers mother. My grandfather's name is Ysidro Lopez and was born in Chihuahua Mexico, in 1907. Petra was a widow at the time of my grandfathers birth. That is all that I know about Petra. Do these names sound familiar to anyone?

Hi. I don't if this means anything, but... my mother is a De La Rosa from cuba. She has 10 or 11 brothers and one sister. She came to the New York in the late 60's (i don't know why they chose NY, maybe because of other relatives in the area?) anyway, that pretty much all I know. What else do you know. Maybe we are relative in some fashion.

Hi, My father's mothers name was Antonia Sifre. She was married to Ramon Nadal. My father's name was Charles Richard and he had two sisters Carmen and Mary. my grandfrather's name is manuel delarosa. he did live in florida in the 50's. manuel delarosa had five sisters: Antonia, catita, paulina, gracita, and conchita. I think my grandmothers name was maria cerna. They had six living children: Ambrosio, benjamin, elizabeth, hermelinda, elias, lydia. they live in california, except for benjamin. My great grandfather may have been named Ambrosio. Most of these children were born in brownsville, tx. I am the daughter of benjamin. help if you can. my family history is lost and we are trying to find out.
