David Delay
BELL CITY (Special)---
David Delay, 86 years old, of Bell City died at 4 a.m. today at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau of Leukemia. He had been in ill health for the past four years.
Mr. Delay was a retired farmer and a lifelong resident of Stoddard County. He was a member of Bell City Assembly of God Church.
He was born Nov. 16, 1887, near Advance. On May 12, 1909, he was married to the former Miss Zelma Wright who preceded him in death on Aug. 20, 1954. He was married on July 1, 1967, to Mrs. Martha Tate.
Surviving: his wife; sons, Jack Delay, Imperial, James Delay, Bell City, and Hubert Delay, Charleston; daughter Mrs. Gertie Whitledge, Bloomfield, Route 3; brothers, Charley Delay, Dexter, Andy Delay, Advance, and George Delay, Bell City; 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
The body is at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield where funeral arrangements are incomplete. The Rev. Sidney Razer, pastor of Bell City Assembly of God Church, will officiate with burial in Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
