Scott De Lee of Dallas, TX 1937

Scott is pictured in the 1937 Forester, yearbook of Forest Avenue High School in Dallas, and is a senior. I'm not kin but thought this might help someone researching the family.

Hi there. I know very little about the DeLee name other than I married David Milford DeLee, son of Milford and Ouida Mozelle Fuller-DeLee. I viewed several prior postings by yourself and others and want to tell you about a church cemetery located behind Community Baptist Church in LaFayette, Alabama. It has allot of DeLees buried there and the pastor of the church is Clifford DeLee-brother to Milford and son of Henry and Maggie DeLee. Clifford is still living and up into his seventies, but may be able to assist. Rock Springs, that has been referenced in earlier postings in a very small community that is only minutes away from LaFayette. There is another church in Rock Springs that I believe also has some DeLees buried there. We've always been told that the DeLees came from France many years ago and that a great great ancestor left his family there and came to America to start another family. I have no knowledge of any of the facts and uncertain about names, but Rev. Clifford DeLee would most likely know a little more.

How did you know when you found William and Sarah DeLee's grave? What Cemetery? They are my husbands Great-grandparents. I have not been able to find any info on their parents. Can you help?

His death certificate was rather vague. It did not list his parents. At the time of death he was 55 years old, a farm hand and worked on Bob Smith's Place. I don't know if Bob Smith is related to me or not. Or if Bob Smith is Robert Smith. He's buried in Rock Springs. Don't know if that is a town or a cemetery.

Cause of death -Hit over head with gun barrel. I will scan the certificate and send it to you this weekend. The Informant nwas someone by the last name SESSIONS

I visited Lafayette Alabama and could not find any additional info on William C DeLee . I did find the cemetery where He and Sarah are buried, but did not have a headstone. The ALABAMA Dept of records couldn't find any info on William C.. The Death certificate you saw did it list his parents names? or any other info that might be of use?

I'm trying to locate background info on Claude's death. Have you come across newspaper articles concerning his death. It appears that he may have cross paths with one of my relatives, Robert Smith. I don't know much about Robert during his time in Alabama, just that he was sent to prison and it concerned Claude.

During a search of a family member, Robert Smith, I ran across his interaction with Claude DeLee - While at SLC I located Claude's death certificate and later on when I was attending Samford University, in Birmingham, AL, I came across some court records concerning his death.

Have you come across any newpaper articles concerning his death, in Cnambers County, Al?

Not sure if you're still using this website, but I'm a Delee based in London. My Dad is William Delee who has two brothers; Tim and John. My grandfather is William Delee who was married to Margaret Delee (nee Galvin).

We have links to Cork and Limerick.

Would love to know how you traced back to France...I think the UK/Ireland based Delee's are few and far between!!

Thanks for your response. I have copies of the books that Uncle Clarence wrote. They were very interesting and helpful. They really got me started in the family history. If Clarence and Dewey couldn't find a connection then there must not be one.

Clarence DeLee met with our family in Clinton Louisiana where most of our DeLee family started. From what I understand after talking to Dewey DeLee our family historian they concluded that they were unable to find a connection. Clarence wrote a complete book of his DeLee family and it is located in the Seattle Library.

Hi does anyone have any information about the above lady. She was born in 1913 and died in 1992. She married Alfred William Lancaster Burton and had two children called Heather Maureen Andrews and Colin R Andrews born in 1945 and 1947 respectively. They are all from around the Essex area. Any information on any of these people would be gratefully received.

My grandfather was 'Hal' (Harry Grady) Williams. He had several brothers - Luther, Iverson, Willie & W.M.

Iverson and W.M were his half brothers. His father, Luther, died when he was just 2 years old. His mother, Judy, remarried Ezra Ewell.

I know about everyone else in the family except her.
And one other person is a massive brick wall for me.
My grandfather's dad was Luther, his dad was William Williams said to have been from Corsica. It all ends there.
Strange stories I guess about him. Still can't get past William.

I always knew he had a sister, Anne, but no one seemed to know what happened to her.
I would LOVE to hear from you!

Annie DeLee was my father's mother. She died in 1960. Joyce DeLee was my Aunt. She did die in a car accident December 31, 1971.

My Dad was their first child Robert Edward DeLee.

My husband is Paul DeLee from Clinton Louisianna. Paul's grandmother is Anne DeLee. Anne's husband was Robert Nettles DeLee, and their 5 children are Robert Edward DeLee, Donald Ray Delee, Ellen DeLee, Joyce DeLee, Betty DeLee. Joyce was killed in a wreck. Thank you that would make him his oldest son.William C DeLee i Have not been able to locate. I am sending for his death certifacte. But on Sarah i has traced her to georgia and her father was Joel Vaughn.he was wounded in the civil war @ the battle of gaines mill. he was in the 38th ga volunteers.

Claude Eugene DeLee was born April 30, 1887. He died Sept. 1931. Do you have earlier info on William DeLee and Sarah Vaughn?

I think there is a strong connection between the DeLee family which started in Virginia and then moved to Providence Rhode Island. I think that possible my John Livingston DeLee who moved to Clinton Louisiana East Feliciana Parish was related to this Rhode Island DeLee Family. John L. DeLee was born in 1793 in Lincoln county North Carolina, and then all of a sudden he appears for the second time in the 1820 Louisiana Census. If anybody has this same problem please let me know.

Moved to Clinton, Louisiana (East Feliciana Parish) – I believe.
Married Robert DeLee and I know they had 5 children. One daughter, Joyce, died in a car wreck in 1971.
