Stacy,
Hello . . . surprise, surprise this is your cousin Andre. I'm not sure but we must be like 2nd or 3rd cousins or something like that? My father Herman told me about you years ago but I never thought I'd find you like this!
I work with a lady who gets into geneology stuff. I told her I thought I still had relatives in Italy etc . . . and so we ended up checking my name on this website. Your name came up when we searched the message board. As soon as I read your description of our great-grandparents (my great-grandparents definetly), where they were from and where they settled in the US I knew you were the right one.
E-mail me back. I'd like to hear something about you, anything? I'm currently living in St. Augustine, Florida working for the PGA TOUR. My father is Herman D. D'Elena. His father's name was Armando and his mother was Mary Anne (nee Giangiacomo.)
Sincerely,
Andre D'Elena

     Hi,
My last name is D'Elena this is the way our family has always spelled it. As far as I know my father Albert was the only son and his parents camr from Italy in the early 1900's. I have 3 brothers all of who have no male sons to carry on this name. I haven't been able to find anything out about our last name and have always been under the impressioin that we were the only ones around with it. If you can offer any moreinfo that would be great. Is your spelling the same? It is not a common name at all as you probably know, nice to see there are others out there with it. Hope to hear something from someone soon.
chris D'Elena

I noticed your posts and my grandmothers last name is D'elena. Her parents, (Guerrino and Catarina) originated in San Paolo di Civitate which is a neighboring city of Molise. They came to NJ in 1905 on the SS Italia along with some cousins with the same last name (one being Michele D'elena). Just curious what kind of information you have about the origin of the name or anything of interest.

Dear Michael, my father has recently made a little history about my family, from the beginning in the 19th century until today.
I think we can contact each other by our personal e-mail address so I can explain evrything I know about this. My surname is De Lena and I know that originally was Di Lena. I live in Termoli (Campobasso) in an italian country called Molise (about 300 km from Rome). Our surname was born in a little town near mine. Please Michael reply to this message in my personal address:
delenag@infinito.it

I hope I can help you and we can meet a day in Italy or in USA.
Best regards

Dear Gianluca, I am very fascinated by getting your message. Well, I live in the United States and I have been trying to find out about my family history ever since I could remember. I basically came to the point where I just gave up until you reply to my message. Nobody will help and the people that will help me would cost me a fortune (geneologist), and I dont have that kind of money. I dont know where to begin. I will let you know what I know about my family. To begin with, when they imigrated from italy there last name was Di Lena and my grandfathers last name was also Di Lena on his birth certificate (he was born in the united states). Maybe the hospital made a mistake, I dont know. All I know is that my grandfathers last name is De Lena and he says it always has been. I dont know where they came from in Italy or when they imigrated. Please help me because you are my last hope. My great grandfathers name was Jennaro De Lena or Di Lena according to my grandfathers birth certificate. Please reply to my message if you want more information. Thank you and it would be nice to know someone in my family line I havent met yet.

Michael,
Your grandfather Luigi may be a relative of my Great Grandfather Antonio's. I received marriage and birth certificates from Campobasso Italy and my great grandparents were married in Montenero di Bisaccio on June 16, 1902. My Great Grandfather was listed as Antonio Nunzio fu Rocco di Lena and my great grandmother was Filomena Subranni from Palata, Italy. Her fother was listed as Camillo Subranni.
Also, the birth certificate from Antonio shows that his parents were Rocco di Lena and Carolina Galanti or Galante. They were from Palata and Guilionesi.
I also found out that he had a sister born 1877 by the name of Maria Rosina di Lena. My mom says that he had one relative in New York. What are your great grandparents names? We all lived in the Bronx on Mossholu Parkway when I was little.

I had to use my college Italian, a form letter from the Italian geneology website and a dictionary to do it but we will see if it worked.
I do not know why I am so interested in finding long lost relatives but I am having fun trying.
I was on vacation and just got your emails. This is incredible ... Yes, your mother and my sister did go to school together. I remember your mother very well; I was at her wedding. She was always beautiful. And your grandparents, Jay and Josie. I always liked them. I can recall your great grandmother now, too... Philomena. My father was Joe Subranni. My sister at the time of her death was living not far from your uncle in West Islip... I forget which it was, but he was married to Vinnie. I have found two other subrannis on the net, both lawyers in Atlantic City, NJ. I am in the law biz too .. have been a legal assistant with a large firm here in Cleve for 26 yrs. I was the only second grader to get a full time job. (Ha). One of my cousin's daughters is a lawyer in NYC ... sounds like we got it thru the genes. I hope to hear from you again... am in a time warp right now, having driven back to Cleve. from North Carolina. Say hello to your mother!!

Nick was married to Vinnie and they had Phyllis, Anthony and Billie.
Philomena and Antonio were married in Montenero di Bisaccia.

Dear Michael and Lisa: As you can see, I am a Subranni. I don't know who Philomena Subranni was, but I will try to find out. My aunt Molly Subranni still lives in the Bronx, and My Uncle Johnny lives in Yonker. I live in Cleveland. My grandparents were Jean and Emidio Subranni. He died about 1940; she died in 1966. They had five children, Joseph, Adeline, Mary (all deceased) and Molly and John. I remember my father's cousins the DeLenas . ... but not sure if it was Nick or Al. The one I remember was married to a woman named Nettie and had a daughter Phyllis (I think) who was close to my age (I am 52 now) (yikes) By the way, the town the family came from is Montenero di Bisaccia. I found that on the net while searching the subranni name in Italy. There is a Subranni meat company there, and I signed the guest book, but never heard from them. Lisa, I'm going to ask my mother who Philomena was .. I have a feeling she may have been my grandfather's sister. Hope to hear from you... "cousins." Take care.

Hi Michael,
Thank you for responding. I will try to think of all the information I have.
Tracing from my Grandmother, Josephine DeLena who was born in 1914, her father was Antonio Rocco DeLena who was born in 1875 and came over from Campobasso Italy. He was married in 1903 in Montinera di Vissachio to Philamena Subranni. They had at least five children that I know of, Patsy, Rose, Josephine, Nick, and Al. My Great great grandfather was Rocco DeLena and I have no information on him yet.
If you have the time, visit the Italian consilate on the web and there is a web site that tells you how to get birth, death and marriage certificates in Italy. It has form letters in Italian to send too. Do you know which one of your relatives came over and what region they came from?

DeLena

Hello, I am responding to your message through ancestry.com. I have been trying to find a trace of my family background and can not because the DeLena name is hard to come by and is very limited in references. The only family that I am aware of is my immediate family and I have only their names to go by. My grandfathers name is Louis (Luigi) DeLena and he was in the navy and lived in the Bronx, NY before moving to Florida with his family. He had married a Floyd and her first name is Vinera. He has several brothers and sisters totalling in eight but I am only aware of a few. He has brothers by the name of Mario, Nicholas, and Antonio. I am not sure about the sisters but I am confident one of them is named Roseanna. The rest of the family I am not aware of but I hope to make contact with in the future if I can find out who they are. His parents names were Jennaro DeLena and Rosa DeLena (maiden name: D' Ettorra). Their last name prior to moving to the states from italy was Di Lena. They moved to the states from italy between the years of 1910 and 1925 (not sure what the actual date was). Please contact me with any information you are willing to give me about your family because their might be a slight chance we are related. Their is only a handful of DeLenas that I am aware of that live in the states. I do know that the majority of my family stayed in new york and my grandfather was maybe the only one that moved away. Thank you for your time and please respond.

Michael
