I just wanted to add a few things, though it may be a moot point. Yes Juan Ponce De Leon, Figuero (The Explorer) Did have three daughters and one son, Luis. Though he had no children of his own he was involved with the church and took a vow of celibacy. Two of the daughters married into the Troche line but I believe decided to also keep the De Leon name in an agreement with them. The last daughter married Antonio De La Gama (Governor of Puerto Rico until 1521). I dont know if they had any children.

He was also a member of the SD Scottish Rite and the Al Bahr Shrine. He was loving, kind and a man of true character who always put others before himself. He died peacefully after a long and courageous battle with PSP. He will be truly missed. Our family would like to thank Vitas Hospice and the many care givers who assisted us, especially close friends and family who helped care for him. He is survived by his wife, Sally; daughters, Cathy and Kisha; sisters, Rebecca, Emma, Betty, Maria; and brother, Ruben. Masonic Service will be held at El Camino Mortuary on Friday, May 16, at 7 p.m. Visitation and Rosary will be held at El Camino Mortuary in Sorrento Valley on Thursday, May 15 and Friday, May 16 from 4-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at El Camino on Saturday May 17, at 10 a.m. We request that you continue to remember Marion de Leon by making donations to help find a cure for PSP at www.psp.org.
Published in the San Diego Union-Tribune on 5/15/2003.
(volunteer submission)
