Planning a trip to LDS Library in SLC

Need advise, has anyone been there? What to expect. I received a helpful link about someone who visited, but I know she was not Puerto Rican. I am interested in the following records from these cities, since this is where I know my family is from, Orocovis (saltos), Cayey, (pedo advila) and Aibonito and Coamo, since I traced the furthest relative in 1795 to Coamo. I printed out whatever I could find about those cities from the catalogs of the LDS library. Any other things I might have overlooked. I am very interested in a Barreto, Pablo from Italy who Genara Arroyo, who had kids in Orocovis, Petrolina Barreto Arroyo who married Juan Antonio Alvarado Alvardo from Aibonito. That is what I have. Thanks for anyhelp! abrazos a todos and good luck with your research.

Need help if anyone can provide it. Looking for my great great grandparents. Grand mother is Elisa Hernandez y Reyes born is Orocovis, 02/01/1918 and died in JC./NJ 04/18/1972. Her parents were, Francisco Hernandez y Torres born 1876, Orocovis, PR and Married Maria de la Paz Reyes y Torres bor around 1883. I found A Julian Reyes y Molina born 1840 married to T Torres y Gonzalez born 1841, who lived next door from what I gathered in the census, not sure what towns, but most likely Orocovis, can't find any of them in LDS records,....I took an educated guess and I am assuming these are my great, great grand parents. Any thoughts? Thanks...

I just came across your message re Pedro Aramburu Delgado. My research shows that he married my materanal Great Grandfathers's sister Maria Ramona Delgado Gonzales of Lares, PR I also have copy of Pedro's WWI Draft Registration Card dated July 1917 wherein he indicates that hei s a Spanish subject. Interestingly, my father, Miguel Hernandez, was the the Draft Board's registrar and he states that Pedro is NOT a Spanish citizen as he is a voter in the district of Lares. Anyway attached is a copy of this document.

Hi, I also have Delgado ancestors. They were living in Amsterdam, the Netherlands since at least the 17th century, but they were actually Portuguese jews. I'm not sure when they came to Amsterdam, but for sure it was before 1627. I'm currently investiging this part of my ancestor history.

Regards,

Frank Visser
The Netherlands

I once found a website that claimed the name Delgado came from a bond of two names one from Scotland and one from Spain. Does anyone know about this? I can't for the life of me find that website anymore. This was like 8 years ago when I searched to see if I was related to the actor Roger Delgado of the TV show Doctor Who. Which coincidentally I grew up watching and loving without ever noticing!!

Delgado Family in Humacao, Puerto Rico

Dear Sir, or Madam,

I have spent a short amount of time trying to find information about the paternal side of my family, named Delgado. From the links I could make looking at census records, my great-grandfather was Marcos Delgado y Rivera who lived in Ceiba, Humacao during the early 1900’s. According to the information I found on ancestry.com he was born in 1874 in Collores(?). I do not know when He died. His wife is recorded as Leonarda Flecha de Delgado, born 1881. My father and grandfather were both named Marcos. My grandmother was Celia Rodriguez Alemaniz of Santurce.

In your research, have you come across a Delgado family in Humacao and do you have any information about their forbearers and decendents?

Looking through a number of on-line postings, it seems that you may have done quite a bit of research in this area. I greatly appreciate any information you may be able to provide.

Sincerely yours,

Marcos A. Delgado Matos
Calling on all Delgado from Yauco-Guanica, Puerto Rico

The earliest Delgado I've been able to find is from the Guanica ward of Yauco (back when Guanica was a "barrio" of Yauco. My great-grandmother was Lorenza Delgado and her mother was Magdalena Delgado. I am not sure if Magdalena was from the Guanica area, or when she was born. The sons of Lorenza were fathered by Monserrate Santiago. I don't know why my grandpa chose to register his children as Delgado, instead of his father's name (Santiago). Other Delgados from Yauco I am related to are:
Maria, Francisco, Clemente, Agapito, Santos, Ramona and Antonia. I don't know any of them or their descendants, and I don't know whether they use Santiago or Delgado as surnames. It will be interesting to find out what happened.

What year was your dad born and where did he live? My Delgado lived in Texas's think he came in through Mexico. He had children in Mexico found them on the census in Victoria Texas in 1900 & in 1910.My Delgado was Romolo or Romulo Delgado.his death certs he was born in 1864 and passed away in 1931.He had my husbands mother in Texas with his 2ed wife. her name was Paula he also had a daughter Mary and we also called her Maria. Romolo passed away in Rockport Texas area. We do not no where he was born. His son's from his first wife there name's where Isabel and Pablo he also had a daughter with his first her name was Ursala. the census said that Ursala, Isabel and Pablo where born in Mexico. We do not no what happened to those children husband has one cousin that is 74 and she Say's they lived in the Brownsville Texas area.I do wish we could find if they still live or left children behind.I don't belive they would still be living but they may have children still living in Texas area.
