Looking for info on Cornelius DELINE YOUNG/YOUNGS,b. 1826 in Onondaga County, NY and who married Christina Ann MCQUEEN, b. abt 1827 in Onondaga County, NY. Cornelius was the son of John and Mary YOUNG/YOUNGS. Christina Ann was the daughter of Peter MCQUEEN and Elizabeth Betsey BOWMAN.

There seems to be a connection between the DELINE, MCQUEEN and YOUNG/YOUNGS families?

Jeff McQueen
MCQUEEN327@aol.com

Hi:

Looking for info on Jane Ann DELINE who married Isaac MCQUEEN, b. 14 Oct 1804 (probably Camillus, Onondaga County, NY). Jane is the daughter of John and Margaret DELINE. She had the following children with Isaac: J. Peter, Caroline and Mary. I believe J. Peter was "John Peter McQueen" named after his great-grandfather.

Isaac died before 1838 and Jane remarried Aaron SIMMONS and had a daughter Elizabeth.

Re: John and Jacob Deline in Richmond, Ontario

Hi Tereasa, there are definitely records that state very clearly the birthplace of Jacob Deline as New Brunswick and not Quebec- but as I said in my last message, when he was born, were Quebec and NB all one territory?

I see that his brother Uriah must have a record or two that also said he was born in NB as opposed to Quebec. Keep in mind that if the family came up out of New York State, they may have travelled along the seacoast (as did the Loyalists in late 1700's) and it would be very possible for some of the Deline "kids" to have been born in NB as they travelled.

This following is a transcription but it is apparent that Jacob's place of birth was recorded NB and not Quebec- I don't think Elizabeth Hancocks confused the two as she deciphered and recorded:

From County Marriage Registers of Ontario, Canada Volume 13, Lennox and Addington County, compiled and edited by Elizabeth Hancocks, C.G., her page 10:

"Deline, Jacob, age 47, living in Richmond, born in New Brunswick, son of John and Freelove, married on June 22 1864 Eliza Ann Deline, age 44, living at Richmond, born at Richmond, daughter of Thomas and Hannah."

So in the above marriage register we are referring to same Jacob Deline whose first wife was Melinda Windover, Melinda had died just four months earlier on Feb. 19, 1864.

Jacob married Eliza Ann "DELINE" on June 22, 1864 who was the widow of his BROTHER JOHN DELINE- John had died August 18, 1860 and is buried at Richmond in Ontario. Eliza's maiden name was Waldron, her parents were Thomas Waldron and Hannah Potter.

Jacob Deline and his first wife Melinda Windover had at least ten children together.

His brother John Deline and Eliza Waldron had at least eight children together.

Jacob Deline and Eliza Waldron did not have children together that I know of.

If you have a John Deline in your records who died at age one year, do you know who his parents were and where he died?

In that original Deline family (children of John and Freelove) I have a daughter Hannah Deline who married a Thomas Stone- did he have another given name Simon? Thomas Stone was born 1807, died Oct. 20, 1879 at Richmond in Lennox County, Ont. I have names of six children for Thomas and Hannah and there certainly could be several others, one of them was a son named Simon born about 1828. I have no info for Hannah- have no idea when or where she died.

If you need additional confirmation about anything I have posted here, please do contact a woman named Karen Windover who will have files and notes on these families.

Thanks from Nora

My records indicate John Deline died at 1 year of age. Also, there was a daughter who married a Simon Stone, they were with John and Freelove when they came from Quebec to Madoc.I have the doc on that. Shortly after the Stone familt went to the U.S.
Also, there were no children born in Newbrunswick. Try Quebec!
Tereasa
skyehawke@sympatico.ca

John and Jacob Deline in Richmond, Ontario

I notice that several people are posting (and have recorded) a John Jacob Deline or Jacob John Deline in Richmond, Lennox County, Ontario as one man. This is not correct. There was a John Deline and a Jacob Deline, who must have been brothers, probable sons of John Deline senior and his wife Freelove who both came from the USA.

Jacob was born about 1817 most likely in Quebec, although I see some people recording New Brunswick as his place of birth- were Quebec and NB all one place in early 1800's?

Jacob married Melinda Windover about 1840; she was born about 1822, died Feb. 19, 1864 at Richmond. They had at least 10 children born between 1841 and 1861.

On June 22, 1864, four months after Melinda died, Jacob got married a second time to Eliza nee Waldron, the widow of John Deline who had died on August 18, 1860 at Richmond.

I have no children listed for Jacob and Eliza together, but with her first husband John Deline, Eliza had at least eight children between 1843 and 1860.

Eliza Waldron Deline died August 19, 1900 at Richmond.

Some of Jacob and Melinda's children moved to Lambton, Kent and York counties in Ontario.

Nora

His mother was Pearl Deline, some of her siblings that we know of were Harvey and Maude.
(See other posting from Terry) I don't know anything about Minnie Levere's family, would love to know if you find out more. Pearl Deline, my grandmother, married Herbert Hodge.
After he died, she moved back to Cloyne and then Tweed.
My father has other siblings still in Belleville and Napanee.
Please share if you find out more! My father's family history and photos were lost in a house fire in Cloyne in the late 40's, so we know very little about that side of our family.

Sarah,

Sorry, I don't have info. on the extended family. My gr-gr-gm was Emeline/Emily/Emma Deline who married Simon Stone. Also Simon's mother was Hannah Deline who married Thomas Stone s/o another Simon Stone. I think maybe Hannah was d/o John and Freelove Deline, but haven't a clue about Emily. The only connection I have right now with the Deline lineage in my database is a daughter (Susan) of Jeremiah & Melinda Deline who married the younger Simon Stone's sister Catherine's son, William James Anderson. I understand Jeremiah to be Jacob's brother and s/o John and Freelove. Otherwise with my direct line I cannot make the connection yet as I have no proof of Hannah being the d/o John and Freelove. Much of what I have on the Delines was given to me by Linda Corupe.

Jeremiah and Melinda immigrated to Huron Co., MI and were the witnesses to my gr-gm's wedding (Martha Jane Stone) to Eugene Pervorse in 1878 in that county, but I think that Jeremiah was only about 9 or 10 years older than my 2nd gr-gm, Emily, so could have not been her father. He was born in 1823 and she in 1833. Do you have any Emily's in your database who were born around then?

Bonnie

Emeline (Emily/Emma) Deline Stone

Seeking the parents of Emily b. ca. Jan 1833 Canada; died 13 Dec 1877; buried at Port Hope Cemetery in Huron Co., MI.
Inscription reads Emily Stone 44y 11m 13 Dec 1877. She was married prior to 1853 to Simon Stone, s/o Thomas and Hannah (Deline) Stone. They resided in 1861 in Hungerford Twp. which I guess is Hastings Co. enumerated with John and Freelove Deline and the Stone children. In 1870 they were enumerated in St. Clair Co. MI. Probably sometime prior to 1877 when Emily died they moved to Huron Co., MI in the Rubicon Twp. area. The first child born in MI to Simon & Emily was born in 1865, so they came to MI before then. Also need the parentage of Hannah Deline who was Simon Stone's mother. I have been told that she was the d/o John and Freelove Deline, but I have no proof.

Thanks for the reply. If John and Freelove married in Quebec in 1816, then John must have been married before cause I have a child for them, Derno/Durno Deline born ca. 1813. There were two Simon Stones. The first was married to Anna Schoolcraft before 1791 and the second was the grandson of the first Simon who married Emily Deline after the 1851 census sometime. He may have been married before, cause there was a Hannah, age 1 on the 1851 census, but no Emily with them. Hannah shows up on the 1861 and 1870 (in MI, USA) with the family. Simon Stone the second's father was Thomas Stone who married Hannah Deline 12 Apr 1826 in Highgate VT.

What is your connection to the Deline or Stone family?

Bonnie

In 1920 & 1930 they were in Wayne Co., Michigan census with daugthers Derma, Vergil, and Eva. Eva May Deline is who I'm trying to trace. She was 1 3/12 age in the 1920 census and age 11 in 1930.

Overton Deline is shown being born in Michigan and Canada on the census. Overton's father and mother are shown as born in Canada.

Eva May Deline was known as being married to a Haswell. One of their son's was John William Deline who married a Rachel?? They had Margaret Deline who married Jonas Clark of Hungerford and after his death Margaret married Hiram Windover. Margaret Deline and Jonas Clark had William Henry Clark who married Zelby Hart and they had my Grandfather Fred. I would love to hear from anyone with any information on the the above.
S. They lived at Con 6 Lot 8@9 on 2 acres in Stanbridge Twp Quebec. Married 1816 in Quebec. Simon Stone was listed as living with them in 1861. Jhon was listed as being 90 and freelove 76 in the 1861 census of Hungerford township

Hello again
Searched deeper and found this on Freelove and John Deline
Married 1816 in Missquoi Quebec
Uriah 1817 Quebec
John William 1819-died 1860
Jacob 1821
Sarah 1821?
Hyram
Charlotte
Derno
Nelson
I do know records can be out by 10 years. My interest in the Stone name was because I was told they married into the Delines. What source did you get the info of a child borne 1813 named Derno? It would be nice to correct where need be.
For instance I have another doc in front of me that says according to the 1861 censes of hungerford twp that Uriah was born 1819 Quebec and shows hw was 42 at time of censes They had previously lived at con7 lot 24 Stanbridge twp Quebec. Owned 50 acres.
1861 censes of Richmond township shows Durno being born 1836 Quebec age 25 at time of censes died Feb7 1908. There has to be a mistake in his birth year as grandmother Freelove would have been getting up there.
Any thoughts?
Tereasa
Nelson

Uriah Deline/De Linn - Hannah Baumhauer/Boomhower

I am brand new to this board, normally I deal with Schoolcraft and Boomhower. Someone has contacted me with information concerning a Uriah Deline and his son George and I need to learn more about them. It appears that Uriah was born in 1764 and came from Montgomery county. He apparently married a Hannah Boomhower (Boomhour, Buamhauer, etc.) They had a child George who is baptized in Center Brunswick on 11 Nov 1790. George later married a Mary Schoolcraft, probably in Vermont/Quebec.

I am seeking:

1. Anything that shows when, or where, Hannah Boomhower was born.

2. Anything that shows when or where children (other than George) were born. Of particular interest are the names of sponsors at their baptisms or anything that ties them to the Boomhower family.

Any clues on this family would be greatly appreciated as although I have a fairly extensive knowledge of both the Boomhowers and Schoolcrafts, I had not previously come across either Hannah Boomhower or Mary Schoolcraft. Their mere existence implies some substantial changes to the early history of both those families.
