I found the graves of Frank Delvin and Nancy R Delvin in Eureka Springs, AR. They are buried in Beulah Union Cemetary. If you go to my family (Bronaugh-Menefee) you can see the photos. So now we know he was buried in ARK in 1918. He was born in 1829. Still can't find even a scrap on his father.

So excited to hear from you about the Delvin connection!!

I remember hearing the family speak of Wewoka and the Menifees but really did not know the connection until I started this journey. My Aunt Golda Beach Jones Dale and her husband moved to Okla. in the early 1900s and I had more connection with them than other aunts or uncles. And think that is where I heard about it.

My mother's name was Sarah as is mine and I am sure that she must have been named after your great grandmother Sarah Florence as my mother had a sister named Florence.

Looking forward to sharing our family history.

I am wondering where the Lord Delvin came in as I did not find that in a census but have seen it on other trees. Think Delvin is originally from Ireland - found a castle there name Delvin.

Hooray! Finally, someone else searching this Delvin family! My Grandmother was Viola Virginia Menefee. (She married Joel B Howard; they lived in Wewoka, OK then in Muskogee, OK) She was the youngest of ten children. Her father was Robert S Menefee. Her mother was SARAH FLORENCE DELVIN MENEFEE. In the census records that I have found, Florence says her father was from France. However, like you, I find a Frank Delvin born in Louisiana around 1835 and his father is "Lord Delvin" on Ancestry.com. (Could that be Loyd?)I have been unable to find any Delvins immigrating from France. I did find one story about a Delvin that fought in the Revolutionary War and then returned to France, but came back and married a woman in New Orleans. I now understand why the Delvin family is so confusing, what with all the children and two wives. However, you would think that with all those kids, alot of people would be searching!
I live in Covington, LA. My mother was Sue Howard Bronaugh, daughter of Viola and Joel. Looking forward to hearing from you! I will try to send the link to that story that I found.

I realize you posted this a long time ago, but I have just been on for a few months and when the system was down today, started looking at other things here.
Frank Delvin (I haven't seen where he was Frances) was my great grandfather and my grandmother, Annie Jane Delvin Jones, was a sister to George Delvin.
I have input as many Delvins and Jones that I have information about or could find on Anc.com. The story that I was told as a child was that my grandmother was born in Baton Rouge, La. and that her father came over on a boat from France. Looking at the census records, it seems that is what the children thought. Even on my grandmother's death certificate, it lists that her father was born in France. Then on some post which I didn't print out, it stated that Frank Delvin's mother was French but didn't have proof. Someone may have gotten facts a little mixed up and I did have a cousin named Delvin Dale who thought the same way that I did, but another cousin argued that Delvin was as Irish as Irish could be. They are both deceased now and wish that I could share all this info that I have dug up about our ancestors especially that Frank Delvin remarried after Sarah Adams died and married Nancye had more children and moved to Arkansas and died in Carroll county. Guess you know most of this by now but if you are interested in the info on my tree, I have all the dates of Annie's children's births and their correct spelling of their names from the Jones' Family Bible. One of her sons died in Shreveport, La., but can't find the record.
Also, have names of most of grandchildren, etc. Did not know about George Delvin's family living in Henderson, Ky., but do remember something about Florence Delvin Menifee in Oklahoma and that the youngest son Frank Lawson Delvin had a son Lawson Delvin who used to visit and sent me gifts from Chicago.
Hope you are still interested.

Just a thought, maybe Frank (Frances) Delvin was born in Baton Rouge.

On the back of a photo my grandmother's name was Rhoda Utha "Delvin" Smith. I believe this is a surename. Our family is notorious for giving surenames in given names, like a middle name. This keeps the family history alive. They lived in the North La area, near Harrisonburg, Jena area. They are mostly buried Mt. Nebo Cemetery. If you would like to talk about this more, you can email me at katrina.elmore@amedd.army.mil I would love to exchange history. You could look it up by parishes, Catahoula Parish and LaSalle Parish. My Smith's married into the Netherland family.

I am seeking information on my great grandfather who lived in Minnisota around 1882 when my grandfather Frank Lewis Delvin was born in Buckman, MN. My great grandfather's name was probably William, but could have been Henry P. He probably died in MN sometime after 1882. His wife, my great grandmother, was named Cora.
