The DeMars went to Germany from France. They were Huegonots when France went totally Catholic. In Germany, they chanced their surname to Deemer. They came to America in the 1700s. The spelling of the surname is Deemer, Diemer, and a few other spellings. They are all French DeMars. My white grandmother descends from the DeMars.
I descend from a French Philpe DeMar in France, who is my 5x great-grandfather.
John Frederick Deemer (DeMar) is my white 4x great-gandfather. He fought in the French an Indian War, as well as in the American Revolution. His wife was Lydia Eberhardt. They lived near Lancaster, Penna.
I descend from their son Philip Deemer m. Sarah Miller (died during marriage) then to Nancy Miller, Sarah's younger sister.
It is interesting that the DeMars also went to Canada. I was not aware of French Cousins in Canada.
Glad to meet you. I have much more on the Deemers (DeMars)
