I've traced my husband's paternal family, Deemer, back to Etienne de Mar. John Frederick Deemer (de Mar) had migrated to PA or Maryland (I can't find him in immigration yet) from Alsace-Lorraine and married Lydia Eberhart in Lancaster, Lancaster Co., PA in 1784.

I have Etienne's lineage to Louis de Mar 1685 but since this family was involved somehow with the Hugenots of France, they beat a hasty retreat to Switzerland, I think, or was it Germany?

Do you have anything on any of these? My tree for this family is King, Deemer, Burkett and is a public tree if you want to check out what I have yet.

My great-great-grandfather was Charles DeMar born in the 1870's in Italy. I was told when he came over around 1896, he changed his name to DeMar but my family is still sort of unsure of what his name was in Italy. He lived on Long Island. If anyone has any information or even an educated guess on what his last name was I would greatly appreciate it.

I have been trying to locate ancesters. My search is halted because of the lack of 1890 census. I know several facts because of birth certificate June 1900. Trying to find out any information on a Theresa/Teresa DeMar (b. 1880-1882 ) PA . She was the wife of George Trevelina Risso. Found Theresa Risso under the name Theresa" Risse "in 1900 census (Philadelphia). She was my g-grandmother. The only information I have is that she lived with the Arata family in 1922 with her 3 children and there names are listed as "Rissell" not Risso. According to the 1900 census she is listed as 20 yrs old. In the 1020 census she is listed as 38 so there is a 2 yr. discrepancy. On the birth certificate of my grandfather his parents are listed as George Trevelina and Theresa Risso. If anyone has any information or leads on discovering the tale/trail of these Philly "fruit vendors" PLEASE reply. I have birth certificate 1900 I have WW1 registration with these names as parents.
Thank you!

Hi Julie!
I already have the Whitenight info. Ken & I are first cousins and live near each other. Thanks for sharing all you have. However, Ken & I are anxious to find more on Grandpa DeMar. So far, we have hit a brick wall. His death certificate states he was born in Pittsburgh. I contacted vital stats there but they have no record of him.No one in our family knows if he had any siblings, what his parents names were, or where he really came from. My mother found the marriage certificate for Loretta & William DeMar. They were married in Long Island, New York. The death certificate & marriage license is all I have. He seems to be a mystery.

Hi Joyce, The only information I have on your grandfather, I received from Ken DeMar. However, my grandmother, Anna Whitenight Peterson, was Loretta's sister. The seven children were separated after their mother's death and the father left the family. I've spoken with a peer in each family and can go back several generations if you are interested in the Whitenight side. Julia Patrick.

Charles DeMar in TX

I am also looking for information about Charles DeMar.
This Charles may have married Mary Serena Johnson about Jan. 1873 in TX.
They had a son, James Franklin DeMar.

According to the Dept. of Rev. in Denison, TX, a Charles DeMar was the father of "J. T. DeMar", which we assume was J. F. DeMar.
Charles was 35 years, 8 months and 22 days old when J. T. was born. (p.44 book 2). This would make Charles born about 1838, if
he is J. Frank's father, for Frank was 27 in 1900.

Thank you for any information!
