Hi,
I did research on Demaray Family when I was trying to get into the DAR.I think I have a picutre of Emma that somebody had sent me.
I think it was Simon's sister Jane who might have been married to Janett's brother James.He waa on a train from Canada to United States and he was killed in a train robbery.
What I have on Janette her dad was John Butts Willer and her mom was Elizabeth Thomson they were married Dec 30,1821.

Opps! I had too many G's. Simon and Janett were my gg-grandparents. Edwin's brother, James Brower Demaray was my g-grandfather. His daughter Emma was my grandmother. In my reply I mentioned Janett but I forgot to mention some records show her as Jane. I’ve seen Janett spelled several ways. I use the Janett spelling because that’s what is on her gravestone. Simon had a daughter Emma Jane who married George Erwin Smith. I don’t have my notes handy but I think they lived in Capac Michigan. I have to be careful when I tell people things when I don’t have my facts in front of me as my memory plays tricks on me these days. Do you know if Simon’s sister Jane was married and if so, would you know her husband’s name? I’ve been searching everywhere for Simon’s gravesite. I’m sure he died in the Speaker Township Michigan area but I haven’t been able to find his grave. Do you have any leads as to it’s whereabouts?

Edwin Demaray was my great grandpa.he was married to Catehrine Monroe they had 1 boy and 6 girls,his daughter Ethel was my grandma.

I don't know of a Simon having a sister Jane but his wife Janett was born 30 April 1824. They were my ggg-grandparents.

I believe Edwin was Simon's son. Simon was Simeon's twin brother. Edwin is listed on census's with my G-Grandfather James Brower Demaray and his father was Simon. If any one is interested I have photos of Simeon's gravestone along with his wife Ann (Robson). His stone is very worn but I'm going to try to get some better photos my next trip up to Speaker Twp Cemetery. There are several Demaray's in that cemetery and a couple up the road in Elk Twp Cemetery.

My ggg grandmother was Mary Dunmire (demyer or ? ) she was born 1800 in Shippensberg PA not gratiot county. She married David Minnick of Carlisle PA born 1804 and had several children of which Samuel B was my gg gfather and his son Sam W then my grandfaher Vern D then my dad Vern D Jr. They later emigrated to Ohio then Fowlerville/Livingston County Michigan where that settled. They are all buried in Livingston county Mi except my grandfather who is in Mn where we are now. Mary is buried in Clinton County Michigan and I have her death cert. She was living with her Daughter Mary when she died in 1881.

My grandfather was Louis Demaray and I do have some information on Demaray if you'd be interested. My grandpa had a Uncle Affter that was born in southern Nebraska and I do have a picture of his gravestone too. Randel was my great granddad and Affter was his brother.

Dear all, I am a descendant of Calvin David Stevens (b. 1838, NY, died 1918, MI). My great-grandmother Delilah Stevens (Calvin's grand-daughter)had in her possession (now in mine) an old photo of Calvin D. as a baby, with his mother, Mary Demaray Stevens (b. abt. 1815, Quebec), and three other women of the Demaray or Stevens family. I cannot identify these women, and I was wondering if anyone familiar with these lines may have old photos that they can compare. Possible candidates for the three unknown women are Adam Stevens' mother (name unknown), Elizabeth Church Demaray, Mary Demaray's sister(s), Polly Crossman Stevens, or perhaps a Demaray grandmother. I see there was 2 Rachels, maybe the first one died and they named the next girl after her.

Richard dob Feb 11,1778 born same place as Nicholas,all of the children were born in same place except for the last 2.
his dod May 11,1830,Whitby,Ont his wife Rebecca Varnum. maybe she was a sister to Elizabeth Varnum.
Geesie dob Feb 1780, that is all I have about that person.
David dob Jan 5,1781 or 1782 dod April 1858 North Dorchester Twp,Middlesex Co,Ont,Canada spouse Jane Marsh.
Joseph dob 1784 Sutton Brome Co,Quebec,Can dod Oct 1855 in Ops Twp.Durham,Ont,Canada, spouse Anne Stevens.
John dob 1791 same place as Joseph dod before 1850 in Newfane,Niagara Co,NY.
This is what I know of Grietje,her real name was Margaret, Grietje is a Dutch word for girl.
Her dad was Pieter Martin and her mom was Elizabeth Burn.
Doing research I found in a DAR book that Niclaces Demaray,Samuel's dad was a Sgt in the Revoltionary war,he served in the Regt 14th Albany Militia same as Samuel.
I also found names of Christian dob 1717 and his brother Jacob dod 1721.From what I can figure out Christian and Jacob were brothers to Samuel's grandpa whose name was also Samuel his dob 1707.

David Demaray

I found a David Demaray dob 1762 on the Morrisonspension .org. This waa an application for pension.

From what I can figure out he might be a cousin to Samuel Damaray dob 1754, NJ. Samuel serve from Albany,NY.
This David's dob April 1762, his dad was David dob 1729
David's dad and Smauel's dad Niclaes dob 1730 were brothers.
Their dad was Samuel dob 1707.
David's wife was Semmie Morre.
Is there any one from this family?

I see somthing that doesn't make sense.
One information says Joe died in 1855, and this other thing I got from Brome County Historical Society has Joseph Demaray Jr as marrying Julia Ann Rasicot Sept 9,1860 in Canada East.
Unless they are 2 different people or the dates are
wrong.
Grietje I heard is a dutch word for girl, her real name might be Margaret ot Margrieta, parents were Pieter Martin and Elizabeth Burn.

Several months ago I had written to this place in Knowlin,Quebec , it was called Brome County Historical Society. To get information on David and Jane's marriage. The couldn't help me. They said the area had only ben setled in 1790's . rom the way they made it sound that the traveling missioneries kept the records.
The did send me a page from the Protestant Marriages of Bedford from 1804-1879.
I did see John and Joseph names on it. I didn't think any thing of it. I told some one and the said that they were brothers to David Demaray.

You must be talking about Julie! She and I got acquainted on this board. Her research has been most valuable to me. Yes, Hazel was Byron Demaray's sister and she was my grandmother. Glenna Jean Lee (Gibbs) was my mother. I don't know if I have any new info, a gret deal of what I have came from Julie, but I'd love to see if we have anything additional for each other.

My g-grandfather was Affter William Demaray and he was born in Ontario, Canada. His father was Randal Demaray also born in Canada. I have been told that all Demaray's are related. I have a cousin who had done a lot of research, and I trying to get information from her. I will be out of town for a few days,(my son is getting married). My name is Deborah Hall Fantana.
My great -great grandparents were Simon and Janette Willer Demaray. I think Simon had an older brother named William.
My line goes through Simon's son Edwin and then through his daughter Ethel Demaray Hall and then through her son Elmer.
In April I was accepted into the Daughters of American Revolution.
So I had to prove my links. Samuel Demaray dob 1754 was in the Revolution. I am from the line of David andJane Marsh Demaray.
I don't know if any of this looks familiar to you.

This lady who is working with me here for the DAR wants me to get the book DeMearest Family Vol I. From the Westview Press through the interlibrary loan. I did one time fine it on google and went through it, but I couldn't fine what I needed to fine.

This family goes in and out of Canada. I believe Richard was born in Canada. I am at work now but can check it later. For the DAR I used "The Demarest Family" by Voorhis Demarest. It included the line for several generations. The DAR accepted it. I would be happy to forward copies of the pages but you will need to provide me with an address or email so I can get them to you. The book is also on Heritage Quest. Let me know if you want them. I can forward all that I used for the DAR........or you can connect to my app. It would shorten the process for you....I can still send the docs regardless.

Were you able to get proof of Richard's birth?
I've been trying to fine proof of David's birth. I went to US Gen Web and didn't see it. I asked about it on one of the genealogy websites and I was told they couldn't fine it.

All I have is Grietji dob 1754, I really don't have very much inforamtion on her.
I'm at the library and I don't have the list of David and Jane's children.
Because of Thanksgiving I probably won't be able to get back before Sat.
You might try Gen Circle or go to Genealogy.com and look for Dolores Novak I.D # 2551, is was posted March 16,2007. Go down to where it says Julie's website. It gives several geneations of the Demaray Family.
