Thank you for replying. My grandmother was Rebecca Dembo Peshkin. Dr. Isaac Dembo was her father.I believe she had two sisters and perhaps one brother,but I am not sure.I have picture that I cannot identify. I believe I also have a picture of Isaac Dembo's wife, our great grandmother. Any information you can give me would be very appreciated. I would be happy to share the information that I have with you.

I do not think that we are talking about the same family. Rebecca Dembo did not come to this country until 1916 from Lithuania. Her father died in 1906 in St. Petersburg, Russia. What do you think?

I am looking for any information on Dr. Isaac Dembo. My grandmother was one of his children. He had siblings,but I do not know their names, nor do I know my grandmother's brothers and sisters names. The family is from Russia originally. Rebeccca Dembo Peshkin came to the U.S.A. in 1916. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Tania

I, too, am at a tall brick wall. My grandmother, Bessie Pearl Phillips, told me that he was her grandfather. She was born in Leland, MS in 1898 and died in Greenville, MS in 1986. The whole line is very tangled. She said that she knew nothing of her father, but did know about her grandfather. Her mother's name was Louvenia or Lauvenia Fuquay PHILLIPS, d. 1939, buried at Live Oak Cemetery in Greenville, MS. Some of her siblings had different names. There were 12 in all. They originated in the Selma, AL area, and some migrated to the Washington County MS area. One or more of my grandmother's siblings were fathered by Ausbon (various spellings have been found) PHILLIPS. While others had the last name TATE.
I have two living uncles, who will tell me nothing. Yet, some of my other relatives have told me that those same two men do know something, that one of them has a picture of him. But, when I wrote to him - Detroit, MI, he wrote back, saying that he doesn't know anything. That leads me to believe that Washington DEMBO must have done something terribly wrong. But it makes no sense for them to continue hiding it.

I'm at a very tall brick wall with this Dembo line. Do you have any info on it. My Paternal g grandmother was Elizabeth Dembo and I can not find any thing on her parents or where she was born. She d in 1886 in Louisiana shortly after giving birth to twins. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Betty

I am searching for information about Washington Dembo, rumored to have been originally from Alabama, in the area of Selma, Bessember, etc./grandfather of Bessie Pearl Phillips and a host of other children/ at one time married to Phoebe / once upon a time, lived in Greenville, MS (Washington County) He would have been my great great grandfather/relatives living and dead, have little to say about him, and treat the situation as taboo.
