Surnames: Demers, Sutton, Lavigne, Bartin, Nord
Hi, I have hit a brickwall. My great grandfather was Cleo Demers, b. about 1900 in Manchester, NH. Her married Dorothy Sutton from Derry, NH. His siblings were Napoleon Alexander, Alice L, Walter Henry, Leon, Lyddie, Clarence, Clara, and Belmer O. Demers jr. Their parents were Mahala Lavigne b. abt 1872 in (Waterloo?) Quebec D. in Manchester, NH 15 June 1940, and Belmer O. Demers, b. in Glover Vermont in 1857 d. Nov 1927. Belmer had a marriage prior to Mahala. Belmer's obit. states that Belmer was a resident of Manchester for over 60 years. So, he must have moved to Manchester prior to 1870. It also states he had 2 sisters, Alice Bartin or Barton, VT and Olive Nord of (Irishburg?) Vermont.

Belmer was a loom fixer and his obit says he worked at the Amoskeag Mills for 52 years.
I can find Belmer and Mahala in the 1900-1920 censuses. I can also find Belmer in the Manchester city directories for the late 1890's but I can't find him at all before that. Variations of his name on his children's vitals was also Elmer and Velmer. Also on his obit they name his widow as "Ada M. Demers" although I know he was still married to Mahala. I do not know his former wife's name.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Leah
