My Great great great grandmother was Nancy DeMotte. Her family came from France to avoid religious persecution. She was born in New York about 1802 as listed in the 1850 census. Her husband was Loren Harrington and I am related through their daughter Catherine. I have not traced who Nancy's parents were. It is difficult to find the names of children listed in the early census forms.

I am looking for relatives of Doris DeMotte at Baker, MO. Mybe she is in family to William DeMotte?

I know she get married to Bert Enge, Bowman ND, and they moved to Stark, Dickinson, ND.

Faith,
You probably are since that seems to be the origin of that name. To find out more, you will have to let people know more about what you know of your parents, grandparent or even great grandparents. Such as where were they born, when were they born, the names of their parents and/or children. Dates and locations are very helpful. Lots of luck!

I'm trying to find out if i'm related to the Demotte's who came to america from france when every one who wasn't a cirtian religen was being killed. My Gram told me about it, but doesn't know if we are related to them. Please e-mail me if you have any information.

William Demotte - MO

I'm searching for information on William Demotte or Minerva Jones Demotte from Missouri circa 1880-1890. Their son Nathan Schumate (one of 3 children) was born Feb 1867 in Pleasant Hill, Cass Co., MO. Other children were Samuel and William. Nathan married Luella Myers and eventually moved to Stillwater, OK where he died.
