Hi Eva...I remember you and just visited with your Mom this past summer. It has been a long time since I have checked any posts on this site. Do you have any updates on our family tree? Many years ago I made contact with someone on this site who sent me some detailed info on the Murvine side. I passed on the info to my Mom in a book I made for her. I am sure she will share the info with you.

Hello. My mothers mom is indeed Velva! Her sisters are Carol,Esterlee and Sandra. She also had another sister that died very young from complications from tuberculosis. I am still tryling to research our geneaology so if you have any more info please contact me.

Hi Denbow Researchers -

Does anyone know where Basil Denbow is buried that died in Washington County, Ohio on June 20, 1857? He is credited with serving at the Battle of Baltimore during the War of 1812.

If so, I would like to get a picture of his tombstone and a copy of his obituary if he has one.

Dear Mary, Greetings from Chicago. I am the granddaughter of William Denbow Lhamon and Florence Meyers Lhamon. Your Grandmother Roberta was my great aunt. Just yesterday I found the death certificate for our great grandfather John W. Lhamon bornDec. 21 1868, he was burried in Riverside Cemetery Marshalltown Iowa. Hi I believe we are related. Denver was my grandfather, I didn't know him but met him only once. My grandmother was married to him and they had Rosella my mother. All of the names you mention are just what my grandmother told me about before she past away. I really want to know more about this side of my family. My mom didn't really get to know her dad, because he remarried and they moved apart. He had two more children with another woman he married, they were Patricia and Andy. Hi, I am searching for murvine and denbow and burkhart also. Andrew and Bertha were parents to Denver Charles Murvine my grandfather, his 1st daughter is Rosella Jane Murvine, my mother. I am Bertha and Andrew's grandaughter. My mother's siblings: Donald Murvine, Vera Murvine Pinnick, Esther Murvine Keylor, Frank Murvine (my mother Maxine Murvine Beardmore Pruett,) and Denver "Bus" Murvine.
Half-brothers and sisters: Irene Murvine Hines,Leland Murvine, Austin Murvine, Harry Burkhart, Edna Burkhart Cronin, Jesse Murvine, Virgil Murvine.

My name is Eva, my mother is one of the six children of Frank and Velva Murvine. My mothers name is Esterlee, and she is the third daughter of Frank and Velva. I suppose that makes us second cousins. I have always been curious about my heritage,half of my mothers siblings, along with my mother have dark hair and dark complection, I know there is no native American ancestry on the Denbow side, do you know much about the Murvines?

Bertha Murvine was my grandmother, Andrew Murvine, my grandfather, and Mattie Denbow and Frank Denbow were my great grandparents. I knew them as a child. I grew up 7 miles from where they lived -Lewisville/Woodsfield, Ohio. I have some info (mostly about the Murvines) on Ma and Pa Denbow!

It's possible that your grandfather was my grandfather's brother. His name is Andrew J. Murvine and I see a brother, William, b. 1896,- ? My grandparents lived in Lewisville, Ohio. I think Andrew had 9 brothers and 2 sisters. For more info, contact me.

I am Sue Beardmore, grandaughter of Bertha and Andrew Murvine of Lewisville, Ohio. Mattie Denbow and Frank Denbow were my great grandparents. I remember them very well, also Mattie's sister, Minnie and her brother, Nathan. My mother was Maxine Murvine (Beardmore) Pruett.I have a lot of info re the Murvine's, but not much on the Denbow's so far-still looking.

I think maybe Ruth is my cousin. My grandparents were Andrew and Bertha Burkhardt Murvine of Lewisville, Ohio. My mother, Maxine, had a brother named Frank. There is also a 'Franklin' (brother of Andrew) and Christopher Franklin or Fisher Mervine (father of Andrew and Franklin). Was Ruth's mother named Velva? And does she have sisters...Carol, Sandra, and ???

George was born to an unwed mother. Her name was Mary Ann Denbow - the daughter of Thomas Denbow - where George gets his middle name. His birth is recorded in Marietta, Ohio - and if my memory serves me correct - his fathers name was George Brown.

I’m new to the list and thought I should introduce myself.

My research interests are the descendants of Martha DENBOW of the Ohio DENBOWs (1791-1855) who m.(1810) Benjamin TOLAND (1790-1885). In particular, the family of her daughter Elizabeth SPRING nee. TOLAND (1818 – 1800/1900) who I believe may have been my GGGrandmother.

I have accumulated a collection of info about many of Martha’s descendants which I would love to share. Surnames include TOLAND, SPRING, SHARP, SIMMONS, EWART, HARBAUGH, MARTIN, VAN LEHN, POLAND, WORTHINGTON, BUCY, LINT, KISLIG, BAIR, KINSEY, WALTON, TAYLOR, THOMPSON, FRIBLEY, HUMMELL, CRISS, FRY, LAFEVER, BOYD, MITCHELL & HANCOCK.

Ok, don't ask me how I remember this, but it seems as if Mary married a Robert Roach from @ Ravenswood, WV / Parkersburg, WV area. I've researched a "Robert Roach" and I don't recall where I stumbled across it at but I do recall finding a Mary Leasure married to a Robert Roach. Unfortunately I could never connect her to my ROACH line. I notice you also have her connected to Little Hocking, Ohio (Washington Co.) which leads me to believe she might be related to my GABBERT line. At least that's where the annual family reunion is held is in Little Hocking, Ohio. Anyway, it's a shot in the dark, but you could check into the ROACH family, who descend from the GABBERTs....

Denbow Family of Maryland and Ohio

Those researching descendants of John Denbow (born in the 1650s) and his son, Thomas Denbow, might find information they are seeking in the 2005 edition of a book about early families in Maryland. The book has a chapter on the Denbow family which settled in Baltimore County, Maryland. Thomas Denbow, a great grandson, moved his family to Ohio. The family spread into Carroll, Harrison, Tuscarawas, and other counties of Ohio.
The book is about the St. Clair, Grafton, Preston, Smithson and Denbow families in the 1700s and early 1800s. One feature of the book is that it shows marriage relationships among the families. Someone descended from one of these families may be descended from others of these families due to marriages back in the 1600s and early 1700s.

Yes, the John Denbow (1797-1862) is my g3grandfather. My g2grandfather, Bazzel Denbow is your Martin's brother. I've been researching these "Civil War" brothers for years and you are the first descendant of Martin that I've had contact with. Please reply to my personal email denbow@frognet.net. Looking for information the the Denbow family who lived on Forest St in Reading Ma at least in the 1950's. They had several children Priscilla I think was the oldest, or at least the oldest daughter. There were Margaret, Muriel and I can't recall the others. Margaret graduated from Reading Memorial High School in June of 1959.

I'm not related, and dont' know anything else about the Denbow family, but I found a death mention in the Thursday, 8-25-1949 Jackson County (Arkansas) Democrat, for an Infant Denbow, as follows, that I thought might be of interest to someone:

INFANT DENBOW
William Ronald Denbow, infant son of Pinkney Denbow, formerly of Morehouse, MO died Tuesday at home. The Dillinger Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Burial was at Morehouse, MO.

I think you have an incorrect date for the birth of James E (as in James Ephraim) Robbins. James Robbins m. Sarah Ann Denbo in Lubec after 4 Oct 1857. (See the book Vital Records of Lubec, p. 133 for the publishment) In the 1860 census Sarah is listed with her son, James E. aged 2. Father James is not listed. Sarah w/o James died 15 July 1868 (VR of Lubec, p. 229)and James E., aged 12 is listed with Andrew Denbo in Lubec in 1870. So the birth year is probably 1857 or 58. The actual year does not appear in the Lubec VR (p. 86)

The Ephraim Robbins b. 20 Dec 1854 ( p. 58) was the son of James and Abigail Huckings. There is a death of an Ephraim Robbins, s. James and Abigail, in Dec of 1855, (p. 215) but the note is the age was 3 months. Abigail d. Jul 1855. (p. 215) So there may be an error in here somewhere.

It is my belief that the James E. s. of James and Sarah is the James E who m. Rowena Smith and lived in Franklin. I have seen this connection on the web. but I have no proof at this time.

Hi Jackie, I am Eva, your aunt Esterlee's oldest daughter. I also have been doing a little geneology and have found that Great grandma Bertha was a denbow, and her mother and father was Frank Otto and Mattie Miracle Denbow. I believe Mattie was the daughter of John W. and Adaline Miracle b. 1839 and1842. This is as far as I gotten but I understand that they came to Ohio from Maryland. Hope you find more info and share when you do. As far as Indian ancestry goes I have found no evidence yet, will keep digging. Eva

I am looking for a Laura Denbow that lived in Dunklin county Missouri. Her death would have taken place around 1910-1915. She was born in 1869. Her first husband was George W. Fry her children are Mae Fry and Benny Denbow.
Also I am looking for Denbow infants that died with the years 1904-1915. I would also like info on Strawn infants. Mother was Mae Fry Strawn father was Allen Strawn in Dunklin County Missouri. Their death dates would be 1915-1920.

Greetings from California. I don't know of a "Laura" Denbow, but my maternal Grandmother is Roberta Agnes Lhamon, who is the daughter of Flora (Denbow) Lhamon. Although I have not heard of a Laura in family stories, doesn't mean I may not find info for you. The Denbow family line that I am from is from Iowa. If I come across anything I will stay in contact.

I am also from the Denbow clan. My great-great-great-grandfather was Solomon Denbow,who married Sarah Elizabeth Cubbage. Their son Robert would be my great-great grandfather. Flora Denbow was my grandmother Roberta Lhamon's grandmother. Roberta Lhamon is my mother's mother. My mother is Marian Ann Peterson (she changed her name to Mari Ann as a young adult). I am Mari Ann's sixth of seven children. I reside in California.
