Leroy & Burnett Denney - Madison Co., AR

I am researching the Denney family that settled in Madison County prior to 1840. Both Leroy Denney and Burnette Denney are listed in the census records.

There is an old homeplace known as the "old Denney Place" not too far from the War Eagle Mill located on Arkansas Park land that we need to obtain more information about so that we can look at the historical aspect of this old home. I also have a map of the original survey with the Denney homestead marked and will gladly share this with the family if it is of interest.

Please contact me at nmferoe@aol.com.

Thank you,
Nancy Feroe

Hi Sandy,
Thank you for your reply.I think we are probably related, but my Wm.Denny, Benjamin Franklin, and his children, all were buried in the Langford Cemetery at what is now Henderson,Ar.They moved all their graves in the 1940's when the North Fork dam went in.They were all moved to Custer-Herron Cemetery .
I have e-mailed with a Richard Denney who does alot of work finding Denney's.He has a great web-site.I told him I believed my Wm.Denny was a son of Joshua Denny[b in N.C.]but moved to [S.C. where my Wm. was born]He thinks it is possible-but we have no proof.
Some of the Denney/Denny's kept great records-mine was not one of them.I wish you lots of luck on you search.
Sincerely Peggy[Denney]Rife
About your post regarding James Denney...I am the granddaughter of George Hurdle Denney, his parents were Oscar Thomas Denney and Bernice H. Hurdle.

The father of Oscar Denney was George W. Denney.

The mother of Oscar Denney was Sarah Minter, and Sarah's parents were William Minter and Mariah Smith.

I know these families were from the Hopkins Texas area.

I've hit a road block and can't find any info on George W. Denney, b. June 1863? Would you be interested in exchanging info? I would be happy to share what denney/minter info I have.

John B and Robert Denney born in N. Carolina moved to Indiana

I am looking for information (specifically parents names) on Robert Denney b.1814 and John B Denney b.1823 in North Carolina. I believe they were brothers. The may have spent some time in Kentucky before settling (1825-30) in Indiana on the county line of Hendricks and Marion county. Robert moved on to Iowa in about 1855 where he died after 1885. John B stayed in Indiana. They have been listed in records as Denney and/or Denny. My family now uses the name Denny.

John B married Margaret (b.1825 in KY) and had Elisabeth (b.1846), Marion (b.1848)(my direct ancestor), James (b.1851), Frank (b.1855), Sarah S (b.1859) and Amanda J(b.1861)

Robert married Sophia Fox in 1834 in Indiana and had William (b.1835), Lusanna (b.1836), John (b.1837), and Martha (b.1844)
Sophia died in Iowa and Robert married Ivy ? (b.1823 OH) and had Nancy (b.1855), Melissa (b.1859), Robert Jr. (b.1862) and Dolpha (b.1878)

They did have a sister Elizabeth, but she was born much later, the baby of the family, in 1831. Not the same one. I know of some Denneys in Monroe Co. related to Caleb Denney/Denny who went on to become the mayor of Indianapolis in the late 1880's and 1890's. Your Elizabeth might be related to them, but I don't have a record that my Denney's went through Monroe Co. or Tipton Co.

Re: Samuel W Denney son of James Jackson Denney

Although Samuel is not one of my ancesters, I did a web search in ONEWORLDTREE and found information showing he died in 1894 in Webster County, Mississippi. Information also shows that is where he and Sally where married (same date 1-2-1876). I couldn't find any information on where Sally was buried, but I did find she was born between 1864 & 1869 in Mississippi. She more than likely was buried the same place as Samuel. I can't guarantee the information I found is 100% accurate, but it gives you some place to go for more research.
Most likely they were born in the Dutchess/Colubmia county area. I have several "cousins" in Wingdale/Dover, NY named Denney, but I don't know Katie's brother's name. I'm looking for Katie's parents. Ruben and Katie's son was named Merlin, but he was called "Gank". Can anyone help me?
