Lavana,

My father-in-law and family is also from Alabama. Not sure if there is any connection, but worth a shot. My father-in law and his family are black, so this would be a the first connections, or not.
His name is Earven Lee Dennis, born Nov 26, 1926. His parents were Joseph and Jessie Lee ( Emmanual) Dennis. I think they where from the Conecuh area. Not sure if that is close to your family , as I live in California. This is where they all came after leaving Alabama in about 1950.

If any of this could be a connection, let me know. I might have information you are looking for.

Gwen
PS-- tried to send to e-mail, but came back as non deliverable.

I'm searching for any info for Ray Dennis from Minnesota, probably born around 1885. He married Dora Hatch (b. 1889 in Minn) and they had three sons, Virgil, Norval, and Raymond, born 1913-1915.

My husband's grandfather, Virgil Ray Dennis, was born 26 Apr 1913 in Bemidji, MN and died 29 Aug 1988 in Finlayson, Pine, MN. We have some information about Virgil's mother but very little about his father. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Philip Dennis or variants of the name

Hi, I'm trying to research my family tree on the Dennis side, my problem is that I don't know much about him which is causing me no end of problems, there is no family left to ask either and I'm not entirely sure how the surname is spelt, if by some miracle anyone out there can help I would really appreciate it. What I do know is as follows:-

He had to be born somewhere between 1910 and 1918, he was in the army during World War II and served some time in Malaysia. Possibly before the war, but definately after it, he was employed at the Ind Coope Brewery in Romford, Essex, probalby as a Brewery Labourer, he lived for a time above the Killwicks store on the corner of Victoria Road, South Street, Romford, Essex, but when I don't know. He was also a lodger for a time around 1946/47 at 50 Mowbrays Road, Collier Row, Romford, Essex and then moved to somewhere in Harold Hill, Romford, Essex. I also know that by 1947 he had a son 12 years old, so it's possible he was married but not necessarily so.
That's it, that's all I know, I've looked up so many Dennis's of various spellings including names where Philip is the second name and not the first, if I could get a list of military soldiers that served in Malaysia that could be a start or get hold of a list of names of people who worked at Romford Brewery would be even better - can anyone help with anything at all????

Dennis/Emanuel in Alabama

I am looking for any female Emanuel's that married male Dennis's in Alabama, Conecuh area. I have located the grave of a Mattie B Dennis, in Santa Barbara, California. Her death record states that she was born in Alabama in 1938 and died in Santa Barbara in 1989. It also states that her mother's maiden name was Emanuel. I also found a copy of her obituary, which only told me that she came to California in 1952. I do have a Joseph Dennis and a Jessie Emanuel in my tree already, but she is not their child. They only had 3 boys, per Jessie's Obituary. If any one can help, I would appreciate it, as my next step would have been to try and find the birth record. Unfortunately, you have to be alive 125 years before they will release them in Alabama.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Gwen Jackson

My line goes back through John C (not Henry) and Amelia Clayton.

I personally knew Danny Dennis before he died and talked and corresponded with him frequently. The John Stanley connection was never proved-he took the word of a lady in Florida apparently. I could never with exensive on-site looking find the man anywhere. Would love to hear from someone who has proof.

William Dennis married to Delilah Hobbs was another person, quaker family in Randolph Co, NC. Their children were listed in the quaker records including a William born in 1804, the same year John C was born. I can send you a list if you like.

Our William was married to Betsey Hoskins. I have their marriage bond, bondsman was Daniel, William's brother. I believe the line to go from this William who died in 1846 to William who died in Guilford Co in 1791 and had a will, to possibly Thomas who died in 1775 and Sarah. I would appreciate any feedback.

I am descended from John C. Dennis and Amelia Clayton. (not John Henry, was definitely C, probably Clayton. His father was William Dennis who married BETSEY HOSKINS, not Delilah Hobbs. Delilah and the William she married were quakers, and their children listed in the Quaker records were: Thomas 1791, Mary 1793, Elisha 1796, Jesse 1799, Fanny 1801, William 1804 (John C was born 1804), Absolom 1807, Elizabeth 1809/10, Mahlon 1811,and Nathan 1815. This William and John C both moved to Tennessee. This was the only Dennis family in Guilford Co, NC. The other 2 were in Randolph County and were Quakers. William's father was also William who died in 1791 and had a will listing children who included William and Daniel (who was the bondsman for William and Betsey). I believe this William's father was Thomas and wife Sarah, but no proof there. I have done extensive research on site in NC when I lived there, and I never found any evidence of a John Stanley Dennis. If anyone out there has proof of any kind regarding him I would appreciate hearing from them.

Hi Diane,
I saw your message of Aug 2004. Andrew Jackson Dennis was my great grandfather. His son John Andrew Dennis was my grandfather, and HIS son Homer Jackson Dennis was my father.
Most of the information I have is posted on my public "Dennis family tree" on Ancestry.com.

I'd love to see a scan of your circa 1900 photo. I've posted (on Ancestry.com) pictures of the headstones of Andrew Jackson Dennis and his wife Sarah, along with pictures of the headstones of Andrew Jackson's father, Andrew R. Dennis and his wife Nancy.

There's a convention in October 2009 in North Carolina of people who are related to, and researching, Andrew Dennis (three generations back from Andrew Jackson Dennis of Webster County).

Contact me directly at John2415@aol.com

Regards,
John Dennis
