Died at the residence of James Paulson, Fruitland, Fruitland township, Muskegon Co., Jan. 15, 1903, Mr. David Travis Depue, aged 84 years. He was born in Heskimer Co., New York, and married Miss Elizabeth Meyres of the same place in 1840. Seven children survive them. Six sons and one daughter. Mr. Depue was preceded by the death of his wife eleven years. He was one of the first settlers in Muskegon Co. coming here in 1858. He resided at the old homestead until a short time before his death, when he went to live with James Poulson at which place he received the best of care. The deceased was a member of the United Brethren church for many years and was highly esteemed as a friend and neighbor by his many acquaintances. The interment was made in Fruitland cemetery. Mr. Depue's father and the late father of the well known Chauncey M. Depue were brothers.

Senator Chauncey Mitchell Depew's ONLY siblings were William Beverly, Lawrence Isaac, Catherine and Anna Mitchell. Their parents were Isaac DEPEW (not DEPUE) and Martha Minot Mitchell. Isaac's father was Abraham Depew b. 1762 & Catherien Crankheit b. 1765.
