Hello - My name is Candace Anne Derbes Copeland. As I read about Peter Derbes my dad comes to mind so I had to share this with you. My dad's name was Walter "Pete" Joseph Derbes. He passed away in 2004 at the age of 61 with Liver and colon cancer. I just thought how strange for two Peter/Pete's to die of liver problems. All of the men in Derbes family that I can remember all have passed away from some sort of cancer, but all different kinds. Just wanted to let you know these similarities in my dad and Peter. Thanks, Candace

My name is Candace Anne Derbes Copeland, my dad was Walter "Pete" Joseph Derbes from Eunice, La. I would love to see some information regarding the Derbes family. I looked up our name on Google and found a Derbes Wines in CA with a crest. Does anyone know if that is our family crest? or do we have one?? I would love to hear from anyone. Thanks, Candace :)

Hi Ben,

My name is Carolyn Derbes Delaney and I am interested in my genealogy. Can you please enlighten me on this? I am particularly interested in my ethnicity since the encyclopedia says some of the cajuns were White, Indian and Negro. My parents, Myrtle and Chester, were both from New Orleans. Thanks so much.

Carolyn

Dr. Vincent Derbes (deceased) of New Orleans and Bertrand Paquet (probably deceased) of Toulon France were related thru the Derbes family. Dr. Derbes went to France to visit him probably 1960 or 1970's. They wrote a family history together of the families. I saw a copy of the book in New Orleans just recently. It is about a foot thick having zerox of may documents in it as support. I have a number of letters from Mr. Paquet which are all in french. I am currently trying to locate a copy of the book to purchase.
bachee@shreve.net Please contact me direct.

Could you tell me if you have found any Paquet born in France, in your search of the Derbes family? I noticed that on one site it notes a Jean Baptiste Paquet born June 25 1848 in Neuville (Point aux Trembles) that is connected to the Derbes. I am researching the Paquet surname.
Thank you
Linda
